And that is what I would like to know as well. The EF 78 inch Extra is just a bit big for the existing 30's, so I am looking for some more power.

But I'll admit to a raised eyebrow at first when I revved the 55 for the first time. I was very skeptical on how the crate would hold up. But now, after about 15 flights, I'm getting used to the thrust to weight and having a hell of alot of fun with it. This combo with 3D rates would be a hoot, foamie like. The big wing keeps top speed under control and the 3 blader slows down extremely well for low and slow, on the deck stuff
Engine is piped and soft mounted, hence the terrific noise reduction. Take a look on the EF 78" Extra thread in the Pattern Forum
After completing the DLE 55 break in, the OS33 will go into that plane for a read on performance

Don't forget to add the price of the standoffs. BTW, doesn't "rated" mean normal voltage? It did say 4.8 to 7.6. I don't know of any batteries that are 4.8 fully charged. The Manual also states "Ni-Cd, Ni-H 4-6 cell, Li-Po, Li-Fe 2 cells". I don't see why they don't say the number of cells for the Li-Pos, but 6 Ni-H charged are a lot higher than 7.6 volts (actually, 6 Ni-H fully charged is over 8 voltages). Unless the copy of the Manual that I have is wrong, you can use a 2S Li-Po at 7.4 rated volts.

A 5 cell NiMH will be around 7 volts fully charged and is much more pallatable...for servos too

Great, let me know how that goes! I like the EF Extra, but I need a new motor for it. If you have any pics of the DLE-55 setup with the 3 blade, I would appreciate it.

Truly surprised by the DLE55's super simple and easy field manners too. Using the stock Chinese plug and CDI. Don't know how long they'll last but so far so good. Todd Syssa made me a set of stand offs to length for 8-32's (normal for the SAP 180) rather than the stock 5 mm, helping reduce weight a bit. A friend who runs a machine shop removed over 4 ozs of dead weight from the 55...down to just under 43 ounces.
I suppose enough about other engines in this OS33GT thread. I have its header just about set-up...will use the ESComposites 40G pipe on it.

The question was, can you use a 2S Lipo without regulator. So, if you can use a 6 cell NiH you can use a 2 cell Lipo. The manual was using RATED voltage of 4.8 to 7.6 and there was confusion between charged voltage and rated voltage. They ( OS ) probable should have used NOMINAL voltage instead of rated voltage in the manual.

So far, very nice, but that's only about 2 gallons avgas through the engine. Not enough run time yet....roughly 20 oz tank lasts about 15 minutes or about 3 1/2 hours run time. I'd like another 3 1/2 hours before winter but we'll see. The 33GT will wait until Spring probably

I have not been in this hobby real long so answer me this, is it normal that OS doesn't put anything about a new engine on their website till long after it ships? There's still no mention of the GT33 on their site. I look forward to reviews though as I'm thinking about putting one of these in an AeroWorks 30cc Extra 300 next spring. For now though I just get to wait patiently for the snow to being to fall

Note the airfoiled control surfaces! This plane should come in around 10-11 pounds so if the GT-33 can make over 20 pounds of thrust, it will be a blast to fly!

I havent been in the hobby to long, but in my mind I don't see how the OS will last much longer than a DLE. When from what Im told that all high quility gas motor will give years of good service.
Even if the DLE is not the most powerfull its the best price for HP in my book, so thats why some one with my limited budget has 1 DLE 20, 3 DLE 30's, and 2 DLE 55, ALL used motors from this fourms and RC Groups and have not had a single issues with all these used motors.
I just don't under stand why they just don't make these new gasers with rear exsaust outlets, to help with muffler weight, and tight cowl issues.
To be honest its hard to compair all the new 30-36cc gas motors, but it seem to me this hobby has become more about name brands than its acctual quility. I really belive the new PTE 36 is an amazing motor, lighter than a DLE 30, way more power and with rear exsaust. But It seems to be a off name brand so not a lot of talking on this fourms about it.
Is it becouse it will never be sold at Towerhobbies, so it will never be main streem like OS or DLE?
