Default K & S Fuel line OK for gasser tanks?

I see K&S has what they call their Stay Flex fuel line - or something like that - Is this line made from viton? or an equivalent? Does it swell in gasoline?
Tower sells it.

Thanks for your help

Ed

it's clear, holds up a LOT better than normal clear tube. I couldn't resist the $13 for 25', I've been using it on weedeaters and so far it's stayed flexible for a year in my main weedie, not sure if I trust it as a clunk line in a plane yet, I need to look at the line in the weedie a little closer, I usually just fuel it and go...

That's a hell of a good price! (Seems too good to be true.) Does anyone here have experience with it?

I think this has been around a long time. It is not a new product? But the price is good.

ORIGINAL: w8ye

Isn't it clear?
The ad says it is transparent. Some viton is transparent, some is black, etc. Dpends on how the mfr decides to make it - they add the color.

I think this is the same old vinyl fuel tubing that we used for glow 50 years ago?

That old stuff got hard in no time and wouldn't be very helpfull in a clunk set up at all. I would hope this is not the same stuff we had 30-40 yrs ago *L* So far my tygon is doing great i'm useing the yellow in 3 of my plane's and Viton in the 4th I wanted to see if it was really worth the extra price or not. If so I will change out the others to viton and be done with it.

I'll look at my weedie tonight, I re-plumbed it last summer and have treated it like a normal weedie, no special treatment...

I seriously doubt it is Viton, as Viton is wicked expensive. But I do wonder if it is the same old vinyl tubing that you can get from the hardware store that gets very stiff after a while, or if it is something half way decent that would work ok. I would continue to use Tygon in the tank for the clunk line, but I wonder if this stuff is worth buying and using for the rest of the plumbing. I have Viton tubing, but it seems a bit stiff to use for a clunk line in anything but a rather large fuel tank...

I bought a 25' spool of it three months ago and decided to try it in the tank of my 50cc Extra. The tank is made from a Fiji water bottle and since I can easily see if the line is getting stiff, I figure it's worth a try. Well I changed it last weekend and it's far too stiff now to even fall to the bottom of the tank when inverted. The stuff in the tank wasn't horribly stiff just enough not to fall quite to the bottom (I leave some fuel in tank to help keep the line soft) but the fill line was hard as a rock after only three months. (If you tried to bend the fill line double it would break) I'm back to Viton or Tygon F4040A in the tank and Tygon on the outside.

I got to thinking about my post and felt it was only fair to add that we have horrible gas here in Houston, TX with probably the highest Ethanol content anywhere outside of California. One thing is for sure, I won't be buying any more of the K&S Stay Flex fuel line.

Here is a pic of my old spool.

finally looked at my weedie, and agree that it wouldn't be good for a clunk line... It's better than fish tank line, but not by much for flexibility
