All that has been said is true and valid, but still, if an engine doesn't have more than 60 psi of compression, it probably won't start at all. If it doesn't have more than 100 psi, it won't run very well. That could help diagnose "no start" complaints.

Will Penzzoil 2 cycle air cooled oil make the ring seat faster or is that just internet scuttlebutt?

Not me, I done enough for that subject. The fastest seating ring will use no oil at all, but only once[:@]

The only thing I will say are questions: Why do some people get in such an all fired hurry to seat a ring? What do they gain, or do they really know if they will gain enough to justify the expense and effort? Are they dependant on obtaining the last possible RPM from an engine to fly their aircraft safely? So does a fast seating ring really matter? Wouldn't a fast seating ring also be a rapid wear ring, having a shorter life span than standard rings?

This ain't rocket science folks. Hell, it doen't even rate as high as meatball surgery.

I would like to get the ring seated as soon as possible because it makes the engine more reliable and easier to tune.
The instructions say run it on the ground for two hours to seat the ring. I am reluctant to do that because in the air there is less load on the engine and it has better cooling. And where I am there is a danger of getting sand in the intake when its on the ground.
It is so blasted hot here I have to fly just when the sun is coming up or I will likely get a heat stroke.
I would like to get the break in phase over as soon as possible. Anything that helps I would like to try

A Bowman ring will seat right away usually after the first couple tanks..

A DLE ring will be lucky to seat in a whole season.

I don't know that it matters? A DLE runs so good, it is hardly noticable that the ring is not fully seated unless you look in the exhaust port..

Dirtybird,

Set the engine stand up inside the front door of the house, with the prop facing out. Leave the door open and run all night to help draw hot air out of the house. Turn the volume on the TV up a little

No, no. Turn it the other way, and hook up some water injection. Voila, swamp cooler!

Exactly!

How many of us treat our new chainsaws, weed eaters, leaf blowers as lofty as we do our R/C gassers?
Want your R/C gasser to break in faster, then fly more often.

Fuel 'em, tune 'em, and go fly!

Good idea. I checked and my HOA doesn't have a rule against doing this.
However the last time I did something similar to this was at my daughters house. She banned me from ever bringing a model engine to her house again.

Send Mom and daughter to dinner and the movies.... Better yet, send them shoe shopping. They'll be gone for days.
