i do not make a 3D just a normal and some maneuvers

I have been using 16x8,10 and 17 x8,10 with surprisingly good results .

I have 2 DLE 20 's, one on a profile yak and another on a small extra( Aeroworks).

The power peak appears to come in at a much lower point than my glow engines and there is also much more low end torque.

This allows me to fly at lower rpm with much less vibration. I am sure why but my planes seem t perform and respond better .

I started using APC props and have switch to wood ( ZOAR ). They appear to be the same .Maybe the apc will rev a bit higher , but the ZOAR appear to have more drive at lower RPM.

People have told me that this is due to apc 's being optimized for glow engines.

Anything that fits, does what YOU want from it, and was FREE!

Other than that, many highly favor a Vess (sport) 17 x 6 -or- Xoar 17 x 6.

Used to be pretty easy to pick a prop for this engine. Now, with guys flying them in everything from pylon racers, to warbirds, to 3D profile planes, there's going to be quite a few different sizes that are going to be "favorites" among guys flying different style planes. On top of that, you can add the complexity that low prop clearance gives you with the necessity of running a 3 blade prop, and what's working well in those?

If I had to pick just one prop, I'm with Jim and his vote for the 17x6, or even 17x8 if you have the clearance. Then go from there.

Then the limited availability of 3-bladed props in sizes some would like to get.
Very little info posted on those, nearly none of 4-bladed props for the DLE20cc.

Somebody from Central America had posted a video of wild combat style flying, using a 12.5 x 13 prop.
By the sounds of it, probably was cranking close to 10K+ rpm....absolutely screaming!!![&:]

16x10 JXF on a world models Spot On. Excellent prop.17x8 is also good but requires gentle landings to not clip the prop.

already have longer gear and that required a reinforced landing gear plate. Both added weight. Not willing to add even longer gear requiring more reinforcement.

Rather odd.
What size glow & what size prop did you used to use on that model?

i have my 20 on a profile, that id rather it not haul ass..so i use a 17x6 xoar.... it revs about 83-8400 rpm which is great.. if it was a full body plane if probably use a 17x8 ...or a 15x10 in a mustang

Its been outfitted with the DLEfrom the day it wound up in the workbench for construction. I've never considered any other power plant. I wanted power ,torque and something with throttle response that amounted to more than an ON/OFF swtich (e.g 2 -stroke glow).
Its designed for a 1.20 to 1.40 size 4 stroke. So in theory it can handle a 17" inch prop. I've even toyed with the idea of a 26cc or thenew 30cc MVVS. The DLEis plenty powerful enough.
And it'll handle the 17"prop on a well prepared concrete or tarmac runway. Paved or grass runways present a problem in that bigger wheels need to be fitted to provide sufficient prop clearance for those two point presentation landings required for the Sportsman schedule.

From a flying perspective the DLEperforms well on both the 16x10 or the 17x8. No real difference in the air despite the ground rpm being higher on the 16x10.

A friend of mine tried the master airscrew K series 16x6 prop on an 60-90 size Aeroworks extra 260. RPM was 9500 and the sound was amazing. It was perfect for all around flying.

I'm with you have settled with the xaor 17x7 on my DL 20s.Have three o them.Bowman rings in all three. One is rear ext.

For sport flying, the Xoar 17x6 is the ticket. Great pull and thrust. I'm running one on my GP Revolver and it can hover (I know sport planes aren't usually hovered, but it will).

If you want to go fast, Xoar 15x8 or 15x10.

If you ever use the DLE in a 3D plane I'd highly recommend a Redwing 17x6 3D prop. Awesome prop...and very affordable.
