    ZDZ 90 or MVVS/Evoluton 80 ?

    Hi Gyus

I need a gas engine for a 110" 1/4 scale spitfire, and would like to hear what you guys would buy.
I want a sigle cylinder engine, so I guess these are about the only choices I have?

I like the ZDZ because it has 10cc more than the MVVS.
I also like the rotary intake valve principle.
But it does not seem to have as many cooling fins as the MVVS/EVO motor.....( dont know if it makes any difference...just guessing )

I like the MVVS/EVO because it has more cooling fins, and it weighs more......which is good in a scale plane (Again, im only guessing that the heat transfer is better than the ZDZ )
It looks like its slightly shorter from the spark plug to crank than the ZDZ, which will fit the plane easier

    What do you think ?

    RE: ZDZ 90 or MVVS/Evoluton 80 ?

I don't have personal experience with the ZDZ 90 so can't comment on that specific engine but the predecessor was a nice engine in the hands of an operator that understood tuning and fine details of installation.

The MVVS 80 is also available in a Twinspark which produces better power than the Single spark version. Both versions are real powerhouses of an engine and very reliable and smooth (for a large single).

The MVVS must also be close to having their on board electric start version of the 80 available soon. I know it was getting pretty close not long ago.
3W, BME and DA all the way. Proven power, Proven reliability and Proven support equals much cheaper in the long term.

The ZDZ90 would be my choice a real power house and the same size as the 80RVJ which has as much power as the 110cc twins, so the 90 would be awesome.
I have the ZDZ80RVJ in mine as that is what I had spare.

I am also considering purchasing a ZDZ 90cc for a large warbird...

Very little info, discussion or feedback out there, not even on FG.

No one has been running the ZDZ 90cc?

The starter version will be available to the publik by late January 2012.
You have been very lucky to try it out.
I just obtained their prototype to try fitting it to a 58 engine. Very nice little Bendix starter.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I guess it will be the zdz 90.
I need all the power I can get for this large plane.

The MVVS 80 starter srstem looks great.
