I have a spare 3S 15mah Lipo laying around that would be perfect for this.
15mah?!?!? You might get a couple of sparks out of that!

Using the single batt setup like you guys are dicussing, how long could the leads be going to the engine mod. ? I was thinking of going this route on a twin I'm restoring. I'm guessing about 36" to the engine.

I will be running 2 DLE20s, two 2300 A123 packs into one RX. I have a batt share (Smart fly) for the rx.

Basicly each engine will be running off of each batt and the RX will be running off of both batts.
Any problem with this setup?

I don't see why it would be. I have nearly the same setup with 1 less engine.

On my big Pawnee I have two 2300 A123 packs, both go the the powersafe receiever, one goes to the ignition as well. The batteries are in the tail for balance with home built extensions made out of heavy duty servo wire.

When used within its operating range, for all practical purposes, the voltage across a diode is not proportional to the current through it. Its a consistent 0.7 V . That is the beauty of it.Its a built in regulator.
BTW we are talking about a silicon diode here. Other diodes have different voltage ratings in the forward direction. ( A germanium diode is about 0.3V)

I just tested the newer RCEXL KILL switch with BEC with regualtor. My life4 battery is putting out 6.68v going to my HD switch that is plugged into my reciever. I have the RCEXL Kill switch on channel 5. I used a Hanger 9 load test meter and with a .5 amp load I am reading 5.95v coming out of the RCEXL Kill switch. So it looks like the Model # RCEXL BEC/A123 does drop the voltage by .7v Looks like it should work on my DLE 20 ignition very well

Not according to my tests. The 1N4007 I tested varied from about .3V at 10ma to .9V at 800ma.

You have a bad 1n4007 or your test is flawed.

You are both right. A diode has an 'operating current'. With a very low load the voltage drop can be a lot less then expected.
Here is a datasheet:

There still is something wrong with his test. Note on the data sheet the forward voltage is 0.7 V with a current of 10ma. He claims to measure 0.3 V.

10 mA would be the lowest current on the sheet. This diode is not a good choice for the little load.
They have tolerances, as well as most meters do. So if your current is only 7 mA, it will drop less.
The given specifications are only reliable when you use them within their operating range.

Jim,

I am looking into taking the same route, just wanted to know if this has been working out for you very well. I plan on using the same setup, the new RCEXL KILL switch with BEC 6.6v from valley view rc and a single life 6.6V 1900mah battery. I am trying to save weight here as much as possible. Thanks

Hello,guys
i am a representative of the DLE manufacturer ,and this is my first time to come here.
So hope i can learn and share something about DLE in here.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask me. I will try my best to help you.
But i donot know that(because i am also a newer for engines, i am also learning about DLE)

Thanks for your attention and support about DLE.
