Default G62 wtih Purr Power

I just removed a Brand New G62 w/spring start and Purr Power Setup from a Byron Gee Bee tonight. Does anyone know what they are worth, and where I should try to sell it. The plane was built years ago, but was never even fueled, since the owner was scared of the plane.

Byron's method of mounting the engine on a backplate with a canister muffler...Worked very well and sounds good, might even give a little more power...A little heavy, but with EI instead of the spring starter makes a great combination on a plane with the firewall designed for it...

Used G-62's are worth about $275-$300 depending on condition. Purrpower is not worth much unless you have a Byron aircraft.

The muffler can "was" the motor mount and was mounted at the C/L of the engine. Bolted to the back of the engine and the whole assembly was held in the plane with a series of circular clamps mounted on 2 or 3 bulkheads. The muffler can extended quite a ways back inside the plane and right in the center of everything. It was maybe one of the best and worst methods of mounting an engine and exhaust system all combined into one package. The engine exhaust port connected to the can via a small manifold arrangement. As far as I know all of these were made by one person for Byron and when he stopped making them, they were no longer available.

The G62 is happy since it has found a new home allready. Maybe this time it will get a chance to run. Here is what the Purr Power setup looked like in the GEE BEE. It is a shame that the engine never even saw fuel in the 17 years that it sat on the bench.

I would think there would still be a good market for the PurrPower. Especially since you have the manifold and everything that goes with it. Quite a few Byron fans still out there!

I actually unloaded the whole engine and purr power as one piece today for a decent price. Now I have a Gee Bee Hanging in the basement that at least deserves to be hung in a store or bar. It is too nice to throw it in the dumpster.

Well you could actually fly the plane. They fly quite well thought a bit tricky to land ....just like the full scale one.
