There's any number of things that could be causing his problem.

I'm saying that following the so called installation guide lines that have been around longer than 8 track tapes, aren't required for 2.4 installations.

While I personally wouldn't mount my ignition module on top of the receiver, I also wouldn't worry about a battery, switch, or wire, being too close by the reciever or ignition system wires.

Personally, I'd be looking at vibration or a bad connector.

Hi Andy, Here are a couple of emails I got from Jr and Hitec in 2011 well after the eight tracks were no longer in use. Dan.

Sorry Dan, I know your feelings on this.

I realize you recieved them after 8 tracks went out of fashion, I'm merely saying they were written or based on philosophy from then.

Its interesting that in my 50+ years working in the RF field I never heard of an RF leak. I guess I will have to add that to my vocabulary.
The OP does not define what he is seeing. We don't even know what he is getting but several have jumped in and repeated the old school fixes none of which works.
There is another problem caused by a running engine. Its called vibration. It could be causing what he is seeing. But then we don't know what he is seeing so maybe we should not guess about that either.
Another problem with a running engine is the sound pressure it generates
When trying to fix a problem we should first identify what the problem is.
Hmmmm... well I've been at this RF game for more than a few years myself. And I have seen plenty of so called RF leaks! Maybe you've never had to track down serious internal interference at at a transmitter site that was caused by one loose RF connector? Or how about intentional RF leaks from a radiating coax. Or how about RF leaks from a bolt together cavity that just had poorly torqued bolts? Or any one of dozens of other so called RF leaks I could think of. So yes, they do exist.

There is constant mention that 2.4 GHz. is immune to ignition noise .....and for the most part I agree from an RF standpoint. But what about the back door ... ignition noise that can enter the radio through the servo leads or on the power leads. This can still exist regardless of the frequency of the radio.

There have been quite a few threads over the years about Fuji ignition noise problems and a known authority ..... TKG confirmed this in this thread. But some people just have to dispute this. Replace the dn junk Fuji ignition with a known Rcexl one and be done with it.

IMO unless one is very familliar with RF and antenna function he should not suggest against techniques that have been proven for the past decade.
How about 20 years working on radios, avionics, onboard computers, weapons systems, and radar systems on naval aircraft and teaching network cabling and troubleshooting at a major university?
Yea...but did you sleep at a Holiday Inn?
