I feel silly asking this one....
I have a new DLE30. I have never had a gasser.
The ignition wire hub does not seem to fit the spark plug.
Is it just supposed to be pushed down on the plug? It will take a lot of force to do it and I am afraid I will split the sheet metal cup.
Am I missing a clip or something?

Push hard and twist a little at the same time, Should completely cover the hex on the plug.

It is designed that way to require some amount of force and a twisting motion to help push it completely on the spark plug as Milton advised.

You can see in the photo how it sits on a DLE30. This is a MX2 73" span with a DLE30 in it.

The six points on the hex works like a cam action to open the cap as you twist and shove the cap in place. I think it was" Antique" (RCIGN Ralph)who gave a good tip also...use some die-electric greese on plug post helps too. Capt,n

Hi all.

I just bought the DLE 35RA.. My first Gasser also.. I also cannot get the ignition cap to go on securely. I am going to go buy some die-electric grease tomorrow but just how much pressure does it take to put this cap on? I have really used a lot of force and twisted the cap, but no luck. Also which way does the spring go in the cap? Wider end in the cap first or the smaller?

As described in the posts above, quite a bit of force plus a bit of a twist. If you use the grease, only a tiny amount on the contact and porcelain area of the plug is needed. I have never used the grease but like you, getting that cap on (and off) the first time can be a challenge.

Most consider the spring optional. Some people use it, some don't. If the cap is on all the way, it will make secure connection and the spring is not necessary. If you use the spring it goes small end into the cap.
