Hello Col, yes, I am using this one; Bel Ray H1R.

It is very expensive, and I wonder how people's experience is on just using "ordinary" syntetic oild that we buy on the gas stations.

I just finished my break-in runs on my Saito FG-57 - this engine is a beast. I have the engine installed in a GP 50CC Revolver. I am looking forward to the maiden flights in the next few days. The engine is running great.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

I bet that plane will burn some holes, and sound great doing it! I am droping the same engine in a Topflight giant scale ARF soon.

I just completed my Saito FG-57 T powered GP 50 CC Revolver. I ran the engine for one hour on the ground for inital break-in and it should now be ready for the maiden flights. The engine seems like a beast and I am looking forward to flying this ship.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Sharp looking plane! Might want to replace the missing screw in the spinner ( photo 4), may not be to big a deal balance wise though. Nice job, hope you can post a video of this bird flying 100mph down the runway! Pete

Hey clockguypete, you have a sharp eye. The head of that one screw broke off on installation. I will eventually repair it but I an not going to hold up the maiden flight for that screw.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

OK, maiden flights of my 50CC Revolver went well. The plane flies like it is on rails. The engine ran great and has good vertical. Landing is gentle and easy. I am quite pleased with this combination. I had two minor situations though. The exhaust is too close to the fuselage covering on the bottom and tore/burned a hole in it and the broken screw in the spinner needs to be replaced. These are very minor issues that will be resolved before the next fly day.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Congratulations on a successful maiden! What prop size is that Xoar?

It is strange. I have tried both my planes with FG-57 in warmer wheather, around plus 15 deg Celcius here now.

In a ESM Corsair and a TF Fw-190.

Not a single hesitation from any of the two engines.

There was some hesitation from the Fw 190 engine in colder wheather; Around minus 5 deg Celsius earlier this winther.

But now, all is well. Both engines are running like big clocks.

Nice build! It seems like an old thread now but hey, I just found Heli-NuBee's having the same setup here. How is it going now? My flies like a dream with FG-57T! Sound is awesome without doubt! Glad to find someone who flies the same plane with same engine! Happy flyin!

My Saito FG-57 is still going strong. However, the stock exhaust system did not last long. I replaced the exhaust with a custom unit from Keleo an I am in hopes that the new exhaust stands up better. The Revolver flies great and the engine runs strong and sounds great.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

I have to agree with you, Keleo exhaust products are very nice. Durable, and improves the sound quality. I have keleo's on a Saito 60cc r3, a Saito fg-57, a Saito 300 twin, and an OS 1.60 twin. Much better than the supplied flex tubes supplied with engines.

Well, the stock flex tubes has to be firmly bolted to the plane at "the other end", otherwise they don't last long.

True that - the Keleo. Sounds good on my FG57T and 33R3. The stock exhaust seriously need a redesign. Keleo you would have to wait for the long production time though.. :-/

When I ordered my 60R3 exhaust ring, he had it in stock ready to ship right out! Items not in stock require some backlog to allow for production time. In those situations, some planning ahead on the build is required, however it is definitely worth the wait. His work is top notch, and his products are in high demand.

Hey kwik,
I have the 50cc ESM Corsair with the Saito 57 twin. After 3 gallons of gas, I'm still getting that hesitation thing on slow rolls...even in very hot weather. Any Ideas? You mentioned running the HSN a little richer...did that work or is the jury still out?

Best,

Jim

Yes, opening up the H needle perhaps 1/4 or more helped.

No more hesitation now on either of the two 57's I have. It also helps on the FG-36.

But mine could also skip a beat even when flying straight forwards.
