Nice! OS really attacking the petrol engine market

Really nice spec too. Excelletn weight and spinning props in the same range as the 33GT for similar weight. WINNER

Just did a exchange rate for a price in this....

(off a youtube vid, shows the engine with a Yen price amount)

71,400 YENS or 792.89 $ US dollars...
This might be retail but not sure...

700 will be cheap as the Saito 220/35CC is 799 and the Roto motor is 770

I think it is in the ball park, as a 50 cc moki is 1,100$
This engine isn't a glow conversion either. It will have all the necessary internals that allow us the run what we
Mixed for our other gas engines.
I have a Saito FG 36 that I have yet to run. OS 40 four stroke is a significant price increase compared to what I paid for my Saito. The OS isn't even hear yet, and I would pay the dif to have one though,. I believe the OS will be better sorted, and will be easy to have the mixtures perfect out of the box.

I found a spec sheet of the 40cc 4 stroke. Hope it comes through. Was told the file is too large which is very strange since its a PDF file

If you look at the linkW8YE listed, look at the bottom of the page and see a PDF link. Click there and see the specs. Basically, engine weight is 1200g, muffler and CDI about 205 g.

Engines turns a 20x8W at 6750 rpm or so it sez. Sojust over about 3 lbs of nose weight will allow a reasonable prop at reasonable RPM.

It looks like the OS 40cc gas engine is a little bit more powerful than the other four stroke engines in this size range. A 20x8 at 6750 RPMs would come out at around 2.6 hp for the engine. A 20x10 turning 6,000 RPms would be about 2.3hp. The Roto Motor 35cc engine turns the 20x10 prop. The NGH 38cc gas engine turns a prop in this same power range too. The 20x8 prop at 6750 rpms would yield about 17 pounds of static thrust. maybe 20 pounds free air thrust, and around 51mph air speed depending on the plane of course.
I was using Pe Reivers prop power calculator spreadsheet with the generic propeller power factor number.

Well, that's about 3HP so it looks like this 40cc offering has significant power advantage over the Chinese & Eastern Euro offerings.

About the same power as was promised by Saito for the FG36.

Hopefully this engine is a true "gas" engine W/neddle bearings on the crank throw.

Earl, did you use the "W" factor? It's 1.09 over a standard prop.

My [link=http://personal.osi.hu/fuzesisz/strc_eng/index.htm]CALCULATOR[/link] came out to just under 3HP @ 68°F.

If you're into Cubs, power won't be a problem for third scale or a little bigger.

I couldn't open the video link. Anyone have a Utube link that works? I wanna hear this one

I used Pe Reivers calculator spreadsheet, a generic prop power factor in his program is 1.2. Thus a engine using a generic prop 20x8 at 6750 rpms puts out 2.59 HP using it.
He put a lot of effort in getting his program to work, so I can expect it to be pretty close in accuracy. it is somewhere on his website MVVS.nl

I was noticing that too. it might be a money maker item for the importers to charge more for it.
I would suggest using a metal aluminum backplate for the standoffs to help ensure the the firewall stays level so the lugs aren't strained. A flat plate of at least .090 inch thick should do the trick. Just bolting up the standoffs to a wood firewall won't have the lugs staying even, wood will compress differently at each point.

Thank you....Definitely has the distinctive OS sound. Noisier than I would have expected It needs a Hatori muffler and a soft mount.
