Default Gas Motor Selection...

I just received the 60% L4 Grasshopper. I was chatting with some knowledgable (I think..) builders at the field I fly at and they all seem to agree that the DLE222 or Mintor 220 would be more than enough power for that wing style. I building the L4 to fly and show scale. Trying to get other opinions on motor selection.... Thx...

what is the WS and what would be the weight,I dont think you need that much engine, that bird should just float around with a 100cc twin real easy and scale.years back some folks were building 1/3 scale cubs 147" WS with just a Quadra 42cc single and they flew great.

The very first Ultralight Airplanes from Eipper had a Yamaha 125cc engine with a reduction drive. They carried a full size man effectively.....

Yah with that much weight I'd go with the DLE 222 flat 4 it puts out 21.5 HP,tower carries them.I have the 170 twin on a 65 lb war bird and it pulls that around with power to spare.
