RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
My Evolution 20GX gas engine powered GP Stuka is almost complete. I am looking forward to the engine break-in and maiden flight.
Best wishes and good safe flying.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
Thanks sir this plane needs the most reliable motors besides electrics so I know these 10cc will not let me down this motor been threw a crash one time into our lake. Opened up crank and drained then put some mystery oil inside to loob it up

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
I completed the odds and ends on the GP Stuka today and the plane is ready for the first engine break-in run. I plan to run the Evolution 20GX gas engine tomorrow.
Best wishes and good safe flying.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
I performed the ground break-in run yesterday on the Evolution 20GX gas engine powered Great Planes Stuka. A short clip from the break-in run is shown in the video below. Sorry for the poor quality but I had to shoot the video alone with a cell phone.

I have a 10 evo, it has 4 flights , it seems good so far, my question is how do you guys get the "clunk" to work with a small tank? I am using a 6 oz tank on mine..

I'm beginning to think a gas clunk doesn't have to stay immersed as long as it is felt. I've been doing gas for many years now and have taken tanks apart for general maintenance with no running issues and found the tubing too hard for the clunk to move. The only explanations I have is that generally gas requires less fuel and therefore the tank doesn't often get too low and I'm thinking that vibration sloshes enough fuel on the felt clunk to supply the engine

AA5BY and THE POPE,
You might give a look at this :

It is very flexable, . . . . and those felt gas clunks will usually pull a tank dry

Wound up eventually getting all 3 sizes, with the medium being last . . . . . Of course it's the one that works best for me on the smaller engines, barbs, and tanks.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
I keep asking with little response, but for those that have stepped up to the 15cc, here's some feedback.
The 15cc uses the same basic carb as the 10cc but its slightly modified. Hence, you only need about 7/8ths of a turn on the needle. I have been propeller experimenting with my old pattern plane
and thought that a 14x6 would be best. Not so... with this prop the plane would just barely reach 60mph and the RPM was always a bit below 10k.
Next I went to the 13x8 (Vess propellers) and found that I picked up nearly 8 mph and it spun at 10,200 RPM. Acceleration is a little slower but I better like the
overall performance. Next week I'll be testing the Seagull models Zlin-50 same set up just a different Evo 15.
Will report the findings.

phatbob02,
The extension is there to provide more volume in the muffler to give it better performance. It is best to leave it in. Be sure to tighten it as per the instructions as this is the most reliable way to ensure it stays tight throughout flight. Some people have found that they prefer to replace it with the one-piece from Macs.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
I started my Evolution 10GX gas engine powered Phoenix 46 Spitfire build today. I maidened my Evolution 20GX gas engine powered Great Planes Stuka yesterday and it flew very well. I am quite pleased with the 20GX so far and I am sure the 10GX will also be great. The Spitfire plane seems nice but is a bit on the small size for me with just a 55" wing. The plane came with mechanical retracts that look nice but we will see how well they perform. I started the build by replacing the CA hinges with heavy duty Dubro nylon hinges. I had a bad experience with CA hinges breaking on one of my planes a few years ago and I usually don't use CA hinges on most of my airplanes. I will still use CA hinges on small electric powered models.
Best wishes and good safe flying.

Come on guys, post some specs as to what prop your using and what RPM you see. Surely I'm not the only one with on-board telemetry.

RE: New Evolution 10cc gas engine
You don't know what your missing I adjust peak within a
Couple hundred RPM both top end and bottom. You can
also see the differences in the air but it takes many flights.
I've been using Vess and Zoar props. I have more time
on the 15cc engines than on the 10cc
