Yes we have. As a matter of fact the Corsair in the video has the engine mounted about 15 degrees from vertical so the muffler stays mostly hidden. Remember the point of this engine is to bring gas/petrol economy to the glow engine world and we did this as economically and as reliably as possible using existing technology, i.e. tank position, etc. If you take care to aline the tank with the center of the carburetor (or as close as possible) the engine doesn't care what direction it faces. Use the included fuel tubing, filters and clunks and you are sure to have success.

That is nice it will take higher voltage. I was considering the IBEC though to eliminate the need for 2 batteries on board. If I have one with enough capacity through the IBEC, then I can use the same for the ignition and the RX. It seems many are being successful with these.

Hi guys, Will I need to buy a different fuel tank other than the one that comes in my Hangar 9 Warhawk 50 ARF? If I do need a new tank does anyone know the size and manufacturer I should look for ? Also, does the ignition box have to be kept as far away as possible from my servos and receiver ? Thanks in advance, Shoo

Should be able to use the stock tank with the new plumbing that comes with the engine. Its a good practice to keep the radio equipment as far from the ignition as possible.

Typically on Gas setups, we have two batteries... to separate the electrical noise from the ignition system from the radio... we even have fiber cutoff switched to keep the two apart... I don't see this changing. I do appreciate allowing the use of a 2s lipo to power the ignition module... long past due.

The engine is supplied with 18" of black FPM (viton) tubing. This is not neopreme tubing. We worked at sourcing the FPM so our users would not have to deal with the stiffness of the tygon, and tygon tubing used inside small fuel tanks is absolutely useless as a clunk line. It is so stiff it never lets the clunk move.

The only thing we didn't provide was a gas proof stopper for your fuel tanks because of the number of different tank styles out there.

Shoo - the tank that comes with the H9 P-40 has a stopper in it that is gas compatible. In some installation we have replaced the 11oz tank that comes with it with an 8 oz tank and then used the extra room to mount the ignition and/or ignition battery. 8 ozs will get you 24 minutes of wide open flying with the 10cc. For planning purposes you should expect 1/3 oz per minute of wide open flying time.

The smallest tank we recommend is a 6 oz ... below that and there really isnt enough room for a clunk to move around and be effective.

Oh wow you guys thought of it all! I would have suggested the viton or black smoke type line because of its flexibility. I think this setup should be a winner for your target market. I am gonna get one just to give it a go.

One thing I recommend to those new to gas is NOT to use a stopper at all for your tank. They are a serious failure point, and fail they do, often. Gas compatibale or not. You want a tank with a screw on cap. Bennet built makes them. The Fiji water bottle is good too. There is a company that sells a ready to run tank that is only 8 oz. that would be perfect for this engine. I ran it for 2 years on my DLE 20, but replaced it for a larger one this year. I will post a link when I find it.

My IBEC is optically isolated and also incorporates a kill switch as well. Valley view sells these and they are manufactured by RCXcel. I just have not tried it out yet.

I am going to try SEF (small engine fuel) next season in my gassers, it is no ethanol 93 octane and comes in either 40 to 1 or 50 to 1. Probably will get in quart bottles, could I add more oil to a guart of 50 to 1 to get to 20 to 1, and if so how much?

You would need to add 1.1 oz of oil to the container of 50:1 to get 20:1 oil mix.

Just pulled the trigger and mine should be here tomorrow. I hope to get it tuned on the test stand and ready for when my Meridian gets here. I'm told they will begin to ship on the 28th.

I ordered mine yesterday at 9AM and got today at 11AM. I am impressed with my initial once over this engine, I hope it runs as good as it looks!
It is a nice touch they provided Viton fuel line, a nice fuel filter and a weighted gas clunk with a filter. The ignition unit is 1.5" long, 7/8" wide, and 1 1/16" tall.
The ignition unit also came with some kind of electronic device with Futaba servo end on one side, and a micro servo fitting on the other end. I'll have to read the manual to figure out what this is for?
I will have fun with this engine! Brian

the cable you describe is designed to go between the tach output of the ignition and to be plugged into a Spektrum telemetry unit to provide rpm readings to your transmitter.
