RE: German Technology - new engine is born !

Somebody asked what our backgrounds are, I am a mechanical engineer, but I can't do what this guy did. It takes a lot more than just knowledge to achieve something like that.

RE: German Technology - new engine is born !

After reading this thread I didn't see any mention of the no vibration, that is what the jar of water was sitting on the stand for. that in itself too me is pretty amazing compared to the gas engines we have now. I think it's great what this guy did and being an engine nut I like all and any engines.

So am I but I lack the machining skills that the designer has.. Pity about that... maybe! He'll if I had those skills I'd never build planes I'd be too busy messing with designs etc.

Same here. I toyed with the idea of getting a lathe and whatever tools needed to try basic machining in the past. But then I would never fly my planes again. Not to mention I am already out of space. My engineering skills are more related to controls than machining anyways. It would only be basic hacking.
