Sorry, I do not have a DB meeter but I can let you know that it is not as loud as a 111 but probably too loud for some clubs.

Tom,

When you bench run the engine please check the DB level of the muffler.
Thanks,

If it was a twin I'd take two of them.

I like the carb they have a long throw arm in the picture, nicer looking throttle hookup, but I don't see an integrated choke lever hole?

Unboxing video up! Test run video coming tomorrow! I talked to Jeff about getting numbers on the 27x10 but he stated the engine would not be properly broken in to run that propeller. We will however test with the break-in prop and DB meter.

Nice lookin' muffler. Might be a decent replacement for DLE170's as well, especially with the angled front for tighter cowls.

Watching this one I want to get a pilot Decathlon and can not decide between the 107" which will get a 55CC eng or the 122" which will get an 85CC eng. I have had the DLE 55 in the past and have had great luck with it I have hopes for the 85 also.

Doh! Just realized that ain't gonna work, as the muffler is for an inverted or right side up cylinder, and the 170 is horizontal. Oh well, nice idea; maybe DLE will have a version with the angled front for the 170's as well...

Well we got her on our engine test stand but got cut short by some rain... We were able to get the 25x10 tested and reached 6200 RPMs running a conservative tune right out of the box (engine not broken in). Check out our video below. The engine does vibrate, as is expected but we noticed much of the vibration disappearing when coming off idle.

We will have another video more than likely tomorrow with the other props weather willing!

ok one guy says 7100 rpm with a 26x10 the other says 6200 rpm with a 25x10  so which is it? 6200rpm with a 25x10 seems weak in my opinion when da's,3w's,and evolution 80's seem to have alot higher rpms.

Are you talking about when Jeff was talking about the engine and propeller brand? The ignition was unplugged which is how the engine got turned off.

This was our first run with the engine. We aren't trying to lean it out as it isn't broken in. You can expect numbers above our initial findings once the engine is leaned out and the ring is properly seated. Also, we used a MSC propeller, not a Xoar. The MSC is wider than the Xoar so it's really comparing apples to oranges. A MSC will always swing lower RPM's due to this wideness, and they also measure a "full" 25" rather than "almost" 25".

I'm going to ask Jeff if we can put a good "middle of the road" prop on there since the MSC is so wide but remember, we need time to break the engine in properly before getting too lean.

Just bought this engine (serial number 7) and was wondering if anyone has ran this engine with a 26x10, 27x10 xoar props yet? If so whats the rpm's this engine is getting? I'm hoping this engine will some what perform as good as a da or other expensive engines in its class, and not like a mt80.

I just ran the dle85 for the first time today right out the boxwith a 26x8 zinger and got a solid 7040 rpm with about an hour run time. I was very impressed with the iso mount as it limited the vibration of the engine alot. The engine is very powerful and runs beautiful. Great job dle!!

You don't run a gas engine rich to break it in you add some extra oil and run a smaller prop. No excessive full throttle operation either. Tune it for the rich side of peak and post the numbers.

Agreed the MSC prop will load more.

Does this engine have the same prop bolt pattern as the 111 ?

Also, does it come with a mounting pattern ? Can't seem to find an online manual.... thanks.

yankphan, sorry for the late reply, the bolt pattern is the same as the 111. The only measurements I have for the mounting pattern would be here: http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/ns/ma...-DRAWING-2.pdf

Heads up to anyone on the fence about this engine, we're done testing ours and will be selling it under our full 2 year warranty for a discounted (used) price. Please give us a call for more information, the attachment shows the engine, just a little dirty from running!

Nice mount! Any videos of it running with and without the mount?
There may not be enough rubber isolation there. It will wait to be seen how long these grommets will last.

The soft mount casing should be robust enough. I'm interested in knowing soft mount weight.
