nice work anyways. this is the same thing I am shooting for as well , not going
to carry around a huge flight box anymore. I even went as far as going
back to the hand crank on the fuel bottle seems to be working great and
fills faster

To tell the truth I use a few different kinds of fuels and end up hand cranking most of mine. I just have the one electric for the most common fuel 15 %

Sometimes you can find small metal project boxes that you can modify and fit your batteries and other stuff inside. You just have to bend up a few brackets so you can screw it to the ends of your starter and then to the box. http://www.boss-enclosures.com/Enclo...cast_and_Metal

Does not answer my emails, I called him he says he is not shure if he has any PAM-1002B's or not
was supposed to call back yesterday and never did. that starter is made in China as well. but only cost $59.00 (3.1) gear

I've been use the Dynatron/Makita setup for years. It works great and has been problem free. When the others are gone the Dynatron lives on!

It kind of looks like Pac Aero is going out of business and just selling off stock. I have one of the 3:1 starters. It was (a little) low on power starting 30cc engines so I began using it with 22 volts. Then I tried starting a 36cc four stroke with it the other day and it wouldn't turn it over. I finally burned up the brush holder trying.... I have no false illusions about finding parts for it; ain't gonna happen. I looked high and low for the silicone inserts for it's odd size (2") cone. Finally found them at Miller Products for 33 bucks plus shipping!

I wouldn't buy one of those again. The starter I am using right now is out of an electric scooter/motorcycle. So far I am impressed with it. I wanted to see if it would work well first and it does, so now I'm going to make a nice handle and switch assembly for it. It even has left hand threads on the shaft which helps keep the cone nut tight.

So if a starters says 12 to 18 volts I take it that 19.8 volts will fry it?
was thinking of 2 9.9 volts in series to much?

Or just go with two 7.2 's 14.4 to be on the safe side?
Or two 6.6 volts at 13.2 volts?
am I looking for 2 c , 3c or what I am confused now LOL
The "C" means how many cells correct?

Hmm... I was checking that setup out for my Dynatron. How do you charge the battery? Do you have to take everything apart?

Here are a couple photos of how I attach the batteries to the starter. Each 3 cell Li-Po is set-up the same. I simply invert the Dean's plug of one battery and install a shorted Dean's male plug between both battery plugs, in essence making a 6S battery

No, a starter designed for 12 to 18 volts wouldn't be damaged by 19.8 volts. When using the higher voltage, just be careful not to run the starter for a long time without letting it cool, and if it won't turn an engine over, don't keep trying as it will then probably be damaged.
