Will ignition get to hot?

RE: Will ignition get to hot?
I have two planes where I have the ignitions mounted between the rails of the beam mount on the firewall in a cowled engine and never had trouble. One is a 40cc and the other is a 26cc.
Is there enough wood in that area where you can route out a compartment for it to fit in to keep it secure and get it a bit further away from the engine case? As long as it can get some air it shouldn't be an issue.

RE: Will ignition get to hot?
Michael,
I'm getting ready to mount my 35 to this plane too. Had a Saito 220 in her and have decided to go gas. Any problems getting the bolts in from the other side of the firewall? Would be interested in how you route your throttle and choke linkages.

Dave I will post some pics tonight of my setup and how I mounted my choke servo. Went a lot easier than i thought it would. i did have to turn the carb 180 degrees to get the linkages on the right side. As far as the the bolts I had to take out the blind nuts and the top one that have that piece of wood over the I had to remove it to get the bolts in. I will post the best pics I can of that.

Thanks Michael! I've already removed the blind nuts and the backing wood on the other side of the firewall and filled the holes in with some epoxy. Looks like you also did the mod to have the single shaft for the prop vs the 4 posts. I have the conversion kit from Valley View. What prop are you thinking of running?
Was wondering about reversing the carb... Looks like it will work better with where the throttle servo currently is. Did you mount the choke servo in front of the throttle servo (laterally)?
Really appreciate any pictures as I'm not very creative but can copy other folks great designs with ease!
Thanks!
Dave

Haha. I am a good copier also. I get lots of ideas on here for projects and setting up. Here are some pics of my install. The last one is just the size battery that I am going to use. I will have 2 of them. One for receiver and one for ignition. I don't know where they will end up for cg purposes.

Michael,
Thanks so much for taking the time to post these pictures. You've saved me some time trying to figure it out for myself!!! Looking forward to this bird being gas vs nitro!

Michael,
What's the red stuff up next to your firewall at the end of your standoffs? Almost looks like Permatex Copper in between the standoff and a washer.

The red stuff is permetex to keep the washers in place as i start the bolts. I put a thin layer and adhere the washer to the standoff. It is a tight fit down there when you mount the engine. Lots of installing and removing to get all the linkages set up right.
I dont have a metal rod there. It just looks like that. It is a carbon fiber rod that i glued threaded ends on to attach the connectors. I learned the hard way on that one on my first gasser. Luckly it did not crash i just had weeks of tracing glitchs before i had a fellow flyer look it over and tell me my problem.
