Default Gas muffler-how airtight (aside from exhaust holes) should they be?

I have a modified Pitts style muffler, (trimmed and rewelded- so that it fits under a cowling)- but it has some areas that are not air tight: in particular around the bolt cylinder tubes that connect one side of the muffler to the other)- How airtight should it be? I know that in a 2stroke nitro engine this is a huge problem. But how much so in a gasser ? (FYI-thes is a DLE30)

No problem at all, if you do not mind some oily residue seeping out.
