Yes you are correct the first fire up on a home built engine is the best but so are all the rest of them as well *L* Reliable with maybe more power than any factory engine in the same size is nice also.

It's a while ago but the engine is almost finished , the ignition clamp piece , the cover for the transferports and the inlet manifold are ready now it's waithing for the ultrasonic cleaning device that I ordered so I can clean the carburetor

@ AV8TOR , I have taken that into consideration but I was concerned that the crankshaft would weaken at this point , but the prophub sits firmly on the crank , at disassembly I have to use a pulley puller ,( I don't know if this is the right word)

I can just imagine your level of excitement and satisfaction in hearing your creation come to life, and listening the the video it sure sounds like a sweet runner. My heartiest congratulations on a super achievement.

You mean why make an engine and loose you plane when it quits on you when you can save work ?
I think it's best to start with a utility engine and improve it. Even redesign things like a lighter crank case.

Well I don't think that assessment is a fact, Myself and several others have been flying home built engine's for years and so far I have never had one quit on me and certainly have never lost a plane due to an engine failure.

Well, I do a lot of work converting "utility" engines, and it is fun and rewarding. But the expertise that went into this engine the OP made is just great. It's not made to "set the world on fire" with a special new engine, it is an exercise in machining skill and accomplishment.

I still had to make the exhaust , finally this is done .
On the picture you see at the bottem the "flat pattern" , right the "folding mold" , middle the "folded part" and on the left the "flange"
