A copy is when two different brand name items can interchange parts.
DLE has been ripping off more ideas and different folks for some time now W/O paying any dues to do so. So this is very amusing to me for them to get caught with there pants down so to speak

Would this be limited to the DLE 30 that was shown? I ask because my DLE55 that was purchased from Tower Hobbies has the stainless prop bolts just as shown here as being fake? Should my DLE55 have black prop bolts? Surely Tower Hobbies isn't selling fake DLE engines???

Why would DLE specifically show and circle the prop hub with stainless prop bolts as being fake, and show the prop hub with black bolts as being original? I'd also check my ignition (Don't remember RcXcell being on back of ignition) ... and cylinder fins but it's under cowl, mounted on plane.

I'm confident I have a genuine, just checked the plug cap and it DOES have the "DLE" logo embossed on it. Only thing that isn't right is the stainless prop bolts? Perhaps they meant if your engine fails in "ALL 12 PICS", ..... you have a fake?

My 30 engine has and spare prop bolts from Tower Hobbies are the plated shiny ones, not black. Is Tower selling fakes? My Valley View 55 has the same shiny ones too.

I have a DLE 60 Twin, 55 Rear exhaust and 30 side exhaust all bought from Valley View and all have the shiney bolts. Can't believe they would be selling fakes. Keith

All these engines work on the same basic principle. To take a design and improve on it, aka re-market it, has been done throughout time. Unless it is patented, it's basically fair game. But to counterfeit is another issue. When DA came out with their designs, I'm sure 3W had some issues. But if the castings were different, the machining and logoing and designed improvements made, and then marketed, where's the problem. You're still free to purchase the originator or you can purchase the new kid on the block. But to market a forgery or counterfeit, that's fraud and deception. You think you're buying the real deal and you're not. So all you Rolleflex watch buyers beware!!!

When comparing your engine fake or real, look at the whole engine and everything about it, not just the finish treatment color of the bolts.
It is highly likely that your MT copy of a DLE might run as well and last as long as a DLE?
There other engines that look a lot like a DLE out there. Some are OK and some not.
I would feel secure buying from Valley View or Tower that I had the real thing.

I have a DLE 30 (as do several in our club) and it is a great engine (for the price), never had trouble with it. My motorcycle is a "copy" of a Harley and I think its great too, for the price (well, I even get complements from Harley guys). They all, copy or original, have their pluses and minuses. We all cant afford a Ferarri. It's just the first guinnei pig to try it out suffers. Maybe the copy of the copy is good?

look at the cylinder for the real or rejected parts engine.both my engines have the real cylinder mold marks.but both came with the shinny bolts,but I think that has little bearing on real or fake.
it has been said that these engines that are showing up, are rejected parts that are sold to build other engines.then the manufacture puts out warnings that these engine are fakes and not there engines.

I'm laughing at all of you who are worried that you may have bought a counterfeit DLE engine. Bottom line is this. Does your engine run? Does it run well? Does it really matter what name is on the case as long as it is performing?
I think not. Everyone knew when DLE came out that it was a copy. And the 1st version had issues at certain angles on the ground but couldnt be duplicated in the air. That issue has been resolved and the engine is now proven and is reliable, doesnt matter if it is the 20, 30, 55 or the twin.
Quit worrying about your copy of a copy and just go fly.
Well that's my 2 cents. Hell the engine is so cheap in dollars anyway if it breaks just go buy another one. You can find em all day long used and new.
