@DavidEichstedt, do you have any idea when the 62 GX carbureted version might be coming to market? As I had plannedseveral projects around the footprint of the 62 GXi.I know about the ZP 62 but I really don’t like the carb location and it would destroy the outline of my planned aircraft.

I have some bad news here regarding the 62GXI. After a gut-wrenching process we have decided not to bring it to market. Detailed testing under various operating conditions showed that it would not live up to our expectations for consistency, reliability, and overall ease of operation. Dealer and consumer preorders will be cancelled. The 62GX engine itself will be released in 2015 as a great-running, traditional carbureted version, so watch for an announcement hopefully around late spring. The plus side is that cancelling this project frees up some resources so we can work on bringing a variety of other engines to market. We have lots of other exciting projects in the works!

Well that Cox Tee Dee .010 would be tricky to convert to gasoline. The 1/4x32 spark plug is larger than the engine!
Then what to do about the CDI ignition unit and such too.
But with electrics taking over RC airplanes more and more, manufacturing a engine smaller than a .40 might be a problem. Is there a market for smaller gas engines left out there anymore? .25 gas engine for example. It isn't like there are a lot of model airplane kits or ARF kits out there for that size nowadays.

Maybe,.. maybe not. There have been numerous manufacturers of air cooled engines (not specifically RC engines) try fuel injection before, The issue is generally the combination of wide fluctuations in engine temperature and fuel injection, this combination can be quite problematic. This may be one reason for the 32:1 oil mix ratio in the listed specs.
Edit:
AH! I posted too soon, I see they decided not to bring the fuel injection part of it to market, I'll bet real money they had the same problems with engine temp/fuel injection that other air cooled engine manufacturers have had in the past.

I am glad to see the 62 being made into a carb engine. Their 58 is the strongest running engine in it's class including all of the 60's.
You would think the 62 can only be better.
I am very happy with the 58 I have. And will probably have a 62 also.

Well this doesn't come as any surprise to me, there is just to many items that operate a FI system that can not be incorporated in such a small package as of yet and keep it weight and price attractive. But there are break through's in technology every day so I am sure that one day we will have a FI engine once it is figured out maybe even down to the very small engine's.
I do think they sort of opened the gate to soon also, I know a lot of people wanted to have one and this was a huge let down for them, but ask yourself this would you rather be flying and engine or busy sending it back and forth for repairs. Plus maybe being blamed for something you didn't do. We have had enough of those engine's in the works that people have bought, thinking they bought quality and wind up with a POS.
