DL50 thats not been started in 2 years.
i have a DL50 on a Yak that i havent had time to fly in about two years. Besides putting new gas in it should i do anything else to it before trying to start it? It ran like a top before. I now have the time again and im ready to fly.

Charge all the batteries and make sure they are good. You may have to go through the carb and put a carb kit in it, but I would try it first. Make sure the fuel lines are sound with no leaks and that the clunk works freely. After 2 years, I would replace all the fuel lines inside and out of the tank. Get a new fuel filter for inline between the tank and the carb. you should be good to go. I am sure there may be others with suggestions.

Use a carburetor kit to rebuild the carb before you try it. It does not take long for them to deteriorate especially if you’re in an area where ten percent of the gasoline is ethanol. I’ve had them fail after an engine had been sitting unused for a few months.
You need to do more than charge your batteries to make sure they are still good. You have to cycle them more than once to determine their capacity and to make sure they can take and hold a charge. Two years is a long time to keep a set of batteries dormant. You’ll be better off starting with a new set.
Thanks to the ethanol in the gas, the latest in fuel lines is Viton. Tygon stiffens up quite a bit when used with ethanol laced gas.

I have found that ethanol is getting a "bad rap" on this I believe. I have been using gasoline with virtually no ethanol in it, and still have severe problems with carb diaphragms and fuel lines. It is something else in the fuel that is the culprit. (Or lack of something in the fuel that it should have.....)
