Default DL 50 and Throttle / Choke Linkage???

I'm getting ready to install a DL 50 in my EF 88in. Yak. The throttle arm for the DL isnt the greatest. I'm trying to figure out what to use for the arm. As you know its just a short metal arm with one hole in it. I read on here somewhere that some guys modified a Hitec blue servo arm. Well I dont have such a arm. Was wondering what other methods are used.
Also, I'd like to run the choke manually through the front of the cowl ,like I do on my other gas planes. The arm on this DL is hidden so to speak behind the engine. So, I dont see how I'm going to run a rod in a straight line to the front of the cowl. You guys got any tips or pics??? Thanks

Thanks Bob. I see that you used a blue Hitec arm for the throttle arm. I dont have one of those . I do have some other HD plastic servo arms that Hitec gives you. What mod did you have to do to hook the arm up?

Use a rc nose wheel arm and drill it out to fit the throttle rod for lack of better word.

Here are some pics of throttle arm and choke hook up, The coke hook up is not my ides, seen it on a post here or some where else

Don't know why they came out so big ????

THe throttle shaft on the carb has a threaded end with screw in it. All I did was mount the servo arm so that the "flat" was toward the carb, and the screw just tightens down in the center.

On the choke arm, I just left the stock metal arm on, installed a 2-56 ball link with the rod coming forward to actuate the choke.

Getting a 3/16" steering arm is also a good solution, except it's pretty cramped on that one side of the carb, so I went with individual arms.

Here is a pic on mine. I used the original PCB arm in the DL package for throtle. Just drill a small hole in the middle of the PCB arm and crimped it onto the metal arm on the carb with a piece of copper tube. Use the screw to secure both arms. Works great!

Default RE: DL 50 and Throttle / Choke Linkage???

Hi there,

I will use a DL-50 in my Reactor. The throttle horn on the carb seems to be in an acward starting position. Is there a way to set the starting position (closed) where I want it. I want the horn to point in the opposite direction of the choke horn. Any ideas?

The first pic shows a throttle arm that was riveted on so had to use it as is. You can actually get the proper mechanical advantage with the short arm if you drill a hole on the servo arm as close as possible to the servo center of rotation. I don't usually do it this way but wanted to fly so I made it work.

The second one has the arm that I like to put on.

The third is a close up of the 1st pic.

Here's mine.

The extended carb arm and choke pushrod holder are made from carbon fiber. The choke pushrod holder has a piece of NyRod as a bushing.

i would suggest to use a metal rod for the choke...as plastic can get melted from the engine heat...
