Since Gaui make helicopters, its also a heli motor.....thats cool too
Electric starter.
I could even imagine installing it in a boat since it has electric start, and has a cooling fan :-)

Looks like a CMpro 50cc Zero as a testbed.

I believe Gaui owner wants to become rich in a short period of time.
I think people would buy a reliable product and keep money in the EU
Kolm 53 = 975 EUR = reliable over the years
Gaui 50 = 1000 EUR = first gas engine for guinea pigs

1000 EUR ! If that is fact, they can keep it. No where near the quality of the Kolm. Notice the threaded lifter bosses above the cam box, this kind of assembly is prototype at best.

Kolm engines are fully made in Austria and Gaui ones are made in Taiwan

I like the design, its got a steel liner, and bronze valve guides / seats... if you look at the cut-away images closely, the valve seat inserts are completely catapulted by the rocker base.
The GF40 has a liner-less cylinder, chrome plated aluminum... and chrome plated / aluminum valve seats which are part of the head casting... nothing wrong with that design either... OS has a good reputation for producing very nicely designed and reliable engines... I have one for my super cub.
This F-50, if they can bring the price into a competitive range, will prove to be a good contender in this class of engine... and just because its made in Taiwan, doesn't mean anything in today's world... you can get crappy quality made stuff here in the states, it all depends the individual companies ethics... based on the design of this F-50, Gaui's got some talented people working for them, and who knows where the design initial came from, as the US and other Countries have a large interest in Gaui.
Although its a bit rich for my blood, time will tell whether it catches on and becomes a popular choice in the 4 Stoke market, but I suspect, we'll be seeing other full CNC designs popping up with a bit more competitive pricing.

I'm considering buying one...there's a build thread over on the Giant Scale News forum... someones doing a Aeroworks Sports Cub Build with one of these F50's in it... so far it looks pretty good mounted upside down... the valve cover and part of cylinder head pokes through the cowl, total about 1.5 inches if that... and the exhaust pipe and muffler are out side the cowl, but it look nice.

"BUMP an old thread"
Finally got the F-50R... was a Christmas present from my wife... Hornet Flyer, sorry you had a bad experience... its imperative you per-lubricate the bottom end and valve train when starting up a new 4 stroke engine... the "R" out performs my OS GF40 as expected, producing just over 4.2 HP with a Xoar 20-10... I've got mine in a H9 super cub, I have about 20 flights on it, and very pleased with the performance.
This is the video that got me interested.
