Cute wheel chocks.

Just FYI, it is generally not recommended to run gas engine planes without the wings. The wings help damp vibration and your tail feathers will thank you for that...

Glad you found your problem and got it fixed. Happy flying!

I never knew

Yes. We often call the horizontal stabilizer/elevator and vertical stabilizer/rudder the "Tail Feathers." Two stroke gas engines can give them a real nasty shaking, and possibly damage them. Having the wing on helps damp the vibes/shaking.

Make sure you balance the prop vertical and horizontally it will cut down the vibration and use lock tight for a prop I use A 20/8 MAS

actually the vibration is not that bad, I clamp the plane between my legs also... with wings on its impossible to tune cause I cant clamp the airplane fuse anymore to dampen vibration to be able to tune it...

but also it runs smooth at high rpm, very impressed... only at lower idle rpm it starts to wobble and jump around... guess then the wings should help, but once I have sorted out the tuning in the morning
ill get the wings on and see how she idles at lower idle rpm

@michael

I do use locktite yes, but still using the break in prop 18x8, what will a bigger prop help me with? besides thrust...

helps to slow it down for landing and it also helps to load up the engine in flight and the mt 35 can handle A 20/8 prop

do any of you guys know what the max opening angle is on the walbro carb throttle arm? It almost seems like I am opening up mine too much in air if that's possible even...

wide open is when it hits the stop on the carb where the idle adjustment screw is (witch should be removed)

ok mechanically im 100% then... my throttle curve works out also... the LSN I don't get it properly adjusted, when do I know if I am too lean?
at the moment its a little rich I would say because my revs drop quickly to idle in air when I throttle down from full throttle to idle...

If I slowly increase revs from idle rpm the engine doesn't want to swop over to higher revs after 50% throttle its like its stuck, is this LSN or HSN problem?
It does hower get to high peak rpm if I go WOT from idle rpm till 100% throttle

the way its tuned now I can trust the engine response if I am at lower rpm and give WOT the revs increase fast and I begin to climb and there is no stuttering
however if I want to fly less than 50% throttle it stutters and 4 cycles... so I either have to fly all the time 75% or I don't really trust to fly it at lower rpm

also I quite like the rpm dropping quickly to idle if I decrease from 50%/WOT quickly till throttle is down all the way... is this a good idea or not? its response
is still instant like I said if I go WOT from that rpm range, only if I slowly increase throttle that I have a stutter problem

to rich on the low side lean it just a little and readjust the hsn each time you adjust the low end Have you read gas engines for dummies in the gas engine forum?

many times but I have found it not to be that easy... sometimes I just ruin the whole tune and have to start over, also I read on flying giants that the engine makes all its power by 60-70% throttle which I noticed when I don't have more power beyond 75% in air engine stays the same, this was making me think I am over traveling as per previous post... so I will have to readjust first my throttle linkage travel or use my throttle curve... think I will do both

Although there is not a lot of difference in the last 1/4 throw on the butterfly there is some on all gas engines,I would never set one so it only had 3/4 throw myself. What are your needle settings at now , I would start out at 1-1/2 turns each and go from there, Sometimes a other than stock muffler can make a slight diff but not enough to get in your way. It is not like a glow engine in that aspect.

Why did the engine die upon landing ?I also noticed some gurgling at mid range that could be adjusted out W/O to much problem.

I switched the ignition off... usually I do this once plane is on the ground, but the wind lifted the plane as I cut the ignition...

jip mid range does have that issue, its a known one, I struggled so long just to get it running I wanna enjoy first some full
flights then I will tamper with it
