While we're on the beat up Ford kick (so much fun), several years ago (2008?) we had a new F250 diesel pickup in our shop. I don't remember for what reason, but the owners manual was there while we had the dash apart so I picked it up and looked through it. On the very first page was a huge warning .... "Engine service operations that can be performed without removing the cab"! On that and many newer Ford diesel pickups, there are only a few engine service operations that can be done without removing the whole cab and I think Ford flat rates the cab R&R at something like 8 or 10 hours. Oh well, at least they warned the owners.
There are so many strange mechanical nightmares in newer vehicles, Ford certainly doesn't have a monopoly on that as GM and Chrysler has more than their fair share also. A guy really does have to do his homework before buying or at minimum buy extended warranties.

I've seen it recommended that you not use anti-seize on spark plugs because it can inhibit heat transfer from the plugs to the head. However, it is standard operating procedure on every full size airplane engine I ever worked on to religiously use anti-seize on the plug threads.

I have every thing that I need except the spark plug wire which goes from the spark plug to the coil. It seems like this would work.
What do you think?

Yeah, the old Chrysler ballast resistor. Turn key, crank, vrooom, release key......she dies. The run resistor element was the one that always failed.
I always had one in the glove compartment, and I used at least 2 in the life of that slant 6.
They just don't make them like they used to..........thankfully!!

Hot rod or car craft did a slant six build several years ago. Intercooled and turbocharged making 450+HP. Not bad for 229ci. IIRC the regular slant six was 225ci and the "super" slant sides were 229ci. Could be wrong on that.

RCU's tech staff is working hard to get their site to work properly. This was a duplicate post for some unknown technical reason.
