Default RCEXEL opo w/BEC

Has anyone used the RCEXEL kill switch with BEC? I'm new to gassers and am wondering if this is a good idea.

The RCEXL is doesn't have a regulator, the IBEC from Tech Aero D. Is a kill switch and has a regulator, have both, both work fine, prefer the AT IBEC.

Been using the BEC option for several years. Quite a few of us have. No issues of any sort. With Rcexl ignition modules purchased within the last 2-3 years (marked 8.4v) there's no need for voltage regulation when any of the current popular battery set ups are used.

About the only people that oppose the use of the BEC's are those that have never owned one.

The advantages as stated in the Tech-Aero website:

ü
Eliminates the need for a separate ignition battery and mechanical on/off switch.

ü Compatible with the power requirements of single and multi-cylinder model CDI ignition modules via jumper selectable 5V, 5.3V, 6.1V and 6.6V voltage outputs.
ü Enhanced flexibility and safety via transmitter control of CDI ignition power from a receiver auxiliary channel.
ü Tech-Aero exclusive 4 stage filtering removes interference from CDI ignition noise in the wiring path to the receiver, permitting use with 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum and 72 MHz FM radio receivers. *

Personally though, I would add an on/off switch on the airplane anyway, and I believe that is an AMA requirement in any case.
