Had time to take it to the field today.
Very pleased with the engine.
It ran so well, that I decided to break it in by flight :-)
So on the first tank, it was flying and running just fine. A little lumpy in transition, at part throttle, but that is expected with a brand new engine :-)
Second flight was fine too, but during landing it did deadstick on landing......but it was on aproach, and I had sort of expected it.
Third flight, I got a bit too confident, and I rolled inverted just after takeoff, and the engine quit, so I had to make a down wind landing.....no problems with that though.
I had leaned it a bit too much, and after a few adjustments, it was running fine again.
Last flight without any problems....still a bit lumpy through transition.
On the ground before going home, I got the transition very descent, and final RPM was 7600 with a plastic master aircrew 16x10
Still far from broken in, but it runs great so far.
Vibration is comparable to my ASP 180 30cc nitro engine.
It seems powerfull, and is a great match to my Pitts S1 at almost 7kg weight.
Will try a Menz 17/8 on it next time maybe. The 16/10 will almost hover it. But it has good speed :-)

No, it is not far from factory settings. Had to lean it a little on both needles.
Decided to see how well lubed it is on the inside, and it all looks good :-)
I bet some of the oil is still some that I applied after I assembled the engine..
I realy reccomend lubricating your brand new engine before running it, as it will probably be bone dry like mine was.
The valves deffinatly need to be adjusted, as the play was quite large now fter running it.
It was vet tight out of the box.
So I adjusted them back again to tight tolorences.
The carb pulse line is full of oil, but it still draws fuel just fine anyway. The pulse still gets to the carb, as I can see movement when I crank the prop.
Compression is also much stronger now. My electric starter is only just able to crank the engine now.
I have been running my 20:1 gas/castrol TTS oil mix from my saito 85FG radial, as I did not have the time to mix the reccomended 35:1 fuel/oil mix.

Still going strong.
But im selling my pitts today without engine, as a biplane is a bit too unhandy to store, and haul around. Will be installing it in my Hawker Typhoon from Esm next.

I just bought one, but are having problem pin pointing the nedles, the engine is running hard and a litle eratic. I have run 3/4 liter gas so far, may be it need to run more? I can adjust the low needle so it run smoth on idle. But on high speed it run hard it run hard. Seems to me its to rich.

Hmmm... Mine ran great on the first tank. Something must be wrong. Try remove the cam cover and check the timing. Mine was one tooth off. Also check the valve clearance......and gaskets

Hi I have done som more running on my engine and did change to NGK cm6. No change in behaivior with the NGK plug. But more running ca 1liter gasoline, mede it run better. On some point on the rpm curve the engine vil be eratic. It look like this is a carburettor problem but it may be bad conection on the ignition due to vibration. Looks like this engine will work better with more running time.

Yesterday i finished my new Curtis p40 with the NGH 30cc fs,engine inverted for the first time and it didn't run good.it was overheating and wouldn't run for more then half throttle.......
At last I found the problem,I had mounted a silicone tube 5 cm long on the exhaust and when I removed it the engine run as before so don't use any kind of prolonging on this engine!
I ended up drilling out the center hole inside the muffler to 7 mm,that dropped the temp 10 degrees c.

Have done more runtime on my NGH. The engine is now more eratic and hard to start. Suspecting an ignition error, i did borrow an Rcexel unit from an another plane. The engine is working as it shod have been from the begining. Now i vil try to get a new ignition unit on waranty. I did buy this engine from Hobby King.so it may not be to easy. Anyway i have a usefull engine and that is a good feeling.
