Default Older G-38 Carb Kit

I have two G-38's on a Ziroli P-61 I haven't flown in 3 years

So this winter I am re-plumbing the fuel system and I should kit the carbs as well

G-38's ran great 3 years ago, but they're at least 12 years old

Carbs are Walbro and I THINK the stamp in the throat says "28S"

What carb is that, and where can I get the right kits?

Thanks,

Mark

The current carb is a WT-338 and it uses a Walbro K20-WT complete repair kit.

The old ones had a WTA-6A carb and it used a Walbro K20-WTA complete repair kit

I don't think the WTA-6A had a choke? Below are pictures of a WTA-6

Your carbs are probably Walbro WT-338 and you need Walbro K20-WAT kits to repair them. I highly recommend buying genuine Walbro kits though Stens and Oregon brands are acceptable. There are quite a few generic kits out there of unknown quality. Less than $10 each at many online sites.

Thanks for the lightning-quick reply, guys!

Does it say anywhere on the carb which it is?

Yes, the early G-38 had no choke and that is the easiest way to tell the carbs apart. If the carb has a choke it is probably the WT-338. They made that change a long, long time ago!

Well, it appears I have some antiques!

I have always choked these with my thumb and they are clearly the WTA 6A you pictured

AND, they have WTA 6A stamped on the front, when I wiped the grime off

They've run great and have lots of power

I'm gonna stomp around the Internet and see how old they are

Here's a link to youtube video: me flying them at Owatonna

Thanks for your help, guys. You're obviously the REAL DEAL

The old G38's had a skinny steel prop hub instead of a fat aluminum one.

Either old or new, they turn a 18-10 about the same rpm.
