Default Walbro Metering Needle

I have two of the Walbro K20-WAT rebuild kits. They are dated 05 2011 and 08 2013. They both have metering needles without the rubber coating on the tip. Is this the new normal? Dan.

I wouldn't think it matters unless there is a lot of pressure built up in the tank .in which you can install a breather valve!

I always keep a number of K10 and K20 kits in stock and the ones I have here have dates between 2013 and 2017. They all have the rubber tipped needles. I have not seen a plain tipped needle since forever. Are your kits genuine Walbro?

Dan , I know this may sound odd but ....
are you sure the tip is not silver color over the rubber tip ? I have noticed a silver coating on some needles that makes the needle appear solid. Push gently in the tip to check so as not to deform it.

CK, you hit it right! I should have known. It is a flexible material that is silver colored. That's the first time I have seen such a thing. Thanks for all the responses. Dan.

I noticed the silver coating starting about 10 years ago on the Walbro kits and soon after on some of the Stens kits . The coated tips always seem to work and I have noticed no stuck needles like happens on the uncoated needle tips . I think the coating is actually teflon or something similar

Interesting! I noticed the light silver color but they were still a soft tip so never thought any more about the needles. They've been that way for quite some time now.
