Default Basic gas carb question (I think)

I have a Kioritz 2.4 running a 20X6-10 prop on my test stand. Starting is ok, idles fine;however, as I advance the throttle it sags and dies. I think it's too rich. Am I wrong? I haven't touch the H or L needle yet and I 'm not the original owner. Your help is appreciated . Thanks.

yes you're wrong, sounds like the low end is too lean, back it out 1/16 of a turn or until it quits sagging. you will also have to reajust the hign as well.

Thanks! That's why I posted the question here. I'd been up the creek without a paddle going the wrong way. That don't sound right but I think you know what I mean . I'll mayke the adjustments tomorrow and will post them here.

Another high probablility is that the filter screen is clogged. This is a very fine screen accessable when you take of one of the plates. Pick it out of the recess it is in (I use a small common pin) and clean it in alchole or gasoline. I usually hold it in a forceps and light it with a match then rinse thouroughly. If the engine has sat unused for awhile or had any dirt in the gas, this screen will plug and give the exact symptoms you evidenced.

See there nothing to it, but do consider cleaning the screen at least once a year or sooner. Also now that the low end works be mindful that any change in setting one needle valve also affects the other. you may have to tweak the HI end for max power.
happy to hear your engine runs.

Now why in the heck didn't I read this post two days ago instead of spending all that time messing with my 25cc weedie only to find out that I had to back the lo needle out about a turn.
Dang thing runs like a top now. Thanks two days ago.
