It's 25cc, but it's super reliable. Take a look at the GCBM R/C 25cc. [link=http://www.gcbmrc.com]www.gcbmrc.com [/link]

If you can handle the weight (and the price) there is no better 28cc engine than the 3W-28i.. I have had one 24 and one 28, they run incredibly smoothe, put out TONS of power, and are reliable as they get and will run 20 minutes on 12 oz of gas ! They are expensive though, no arguement there.

The MVVS is also a good engine, as is the Zenoah G26. The G26 is heavy, but a lot cheaper.

A 25cc engine will work as well as a 28cc I would bet, and it is a lot more common displacement. I would recommend the GCBM 25cc gas engine. I have this engine and it is very reliable and a strong performer. It is based on the Homelite 25cc engine of which many thousands have been produced.

This engine is an especially good value if you are putting it in a plane with a stubby nose (short nose moment) like a WWI biplane, or something like a Piper Cub. This is because it wieghs a little bit more and this acts as useful ballast to balance the plane. For example, with my GCBM 25cc engine on my 1/4 scale Sopwith Pup, I did not have to use any lead ballast to balance the plane. The plane's prior owner used a much more expensive, lightwieght engine and ended up having to add 1lb of lead to balance the nose. Check it out at www.gcbmrc.com

I have been working with a company that is using the 3w and we are having a lot of problems with it running right, I think it is there set up and not the motor. We are having a tough time setting up the fuel mixture, and worse it's a pusher, I warned them against this but there customer insists on it. There is also a prop extension on it to keep the motor closer to CG, so
Eindecker_pilot, weight is a big issue. If balancing is out will this make the engine hard to tune? Any tips you guys can give me on tuning these I would appreciate it.

Wolf Predator 1.8 (30cc) if you can find one for sale. C&H ignition, polished aluminum, beautifully done, same weight as a G23 but swings a 19x8.

Pegasus,

Can you explain the statement: "If balancing is out will this make the engine hard to tune?" I'm not sure I understand the interaction.
My GCBM 25cc gas engine did not require any carburetor adjustments (I think GCBM tests & sets them up at the factory). So, there was no need to retune the engine. As I stated, the weight of the GCBM 25cc engine was actually a good thing for balancing the plane in my application. You may have an application which warrants a very lightweight engine.

What about a lightened g26?
2lbs. 4oz, 17 lbs thrust. Very reliable and not expensive.
