MVVS & Horizon
At Toledo, found out that Horizon is now distributing the MVVS motors. They've been re-badged as "Evolution" brand. I imagine that the MVVS gassers will become quite popular with better distribution and service.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
If I did the conversion correctly the 2.15 at Horizon for $449.99 would cost you $308.11 plus shipping from Pe Reivers, hopefully Pe, Dar or David Moen will see this and verify or correct me.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
Aren't the prices on Horizon's site less than what Morris Hobbies had them at? Morris listed the 58 at $699.00 US, Horizon says $599.00 which is closer to what smaller distrubutors like Pe and I sell them for. MVVS engines have alsways been of very good quality, thier distribution in the US was spotty however. I think that this is a huge endorsement for the manufacturer as Horizon has a reputation of selling high quality products (JR, Hangar 9, Saito, Evolution) and so would not have picked MVVS to manufacture for them if quality was not up to par.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
Until this thread, I had been unaware that Horizon was picking up the line. The up side of this is wider distribution and parts availability, but I still remember all too well the MDS engine line that Horizon had distributed. If Horizon performs up to their usual high standards, there should be no problems unless MVVS themselves manage to fall on their faces

I was never interested in the MVVS line before, as Morris was the distributor, and I had delt with them before![sm=thumbdown.gif] Maybe now, after this has time to mature, I will give them a look.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
David, you are correct. Horizon was showing list prices less than the current US distributor.
Perhaps Horizon can generate enough business for MVVS so they can flesh out their line of engines to offer lots of displacement choices like 3W.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
David allready answered part of the question for me.
We, the smaller dealers, all use minimum profit margins, whilst trying our best to keep the customer happy. It is what he, the customer, deserves, and we owe it to the factory we represent.
I have aided quite a few Morris customers through their service stages, just because I believe the engines deserve it, and I would not let them down. At MVVS it earned me the "fame" of the only complaining distributer, until I explained the situation to them.
MVVS deserves a large dedicated distributer, because their support, and applied engineering level is such, that they cannot survive without selling larger numbers. The engine parts they sell are priced very reasonable, so keeping the engine running is not expensive.
The last four years, MVVS has worked hard to get their production methods up to par with their engineering objectives. This now translates into a high quality product, that is worth every penny the customer spends on it, and then some.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
All,
I noticed that Morris still has the 1.6 and the 2.15 MVVS badged gas engines for sale and in stock. The newer 58 cc engine is listed but is not in stock. Is it known if Morris will continue to sell these gas engines under the MVVS name while Horizon sells the same gas engines under the Evolution name? Also, what about the current MVVS glow engines?

On Pe's web site the 2.15 petrol is 258.50 EU = 333.46 USD + 25 EU S&H = 32.25 USD for a total of $365.71. The Euro is now $1.28, so things are getting better. Actually, it's a steal if that price on Pe's price list isn't a typo. I sold a low-time 2.15 a year and a half ago for more $$ than that!

MVVS has come a long way since the introduction of the first gas engines. New production methods and added quality control provide us with better products, at about the same price as before (after inflation correction). MVVS has tightened dealer conditions, which is reflected in European prices. In addition, the USD has devaluated more than it should.
Needless to say, I am not happy with this situation at all. It's a b****y mess.

I can tell you for a fact that PĂ© honors his posted prices. When I got my 1.6 from him, the postage that he had to pay on the package was well above what he charged me (7 euros more if I remember correctly). I offered to pay him the money and he refused to take it.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
I see this as something completly different. H9 has -- and will continue to develope ARFs for the aerobatic modeler-- and they need an engine to recommend for them-- and the magneto Zenoah no longer fits the bill. So what do they do????? I also bet Great Planes is also coming up with something soon in place of the Fuji.
Go out and find a line of engines they can offer for their upcoming line of 50cc aerobatic ARFs. These people aren't dumb. So they take the MVVS and stick their "Evolution" name on them and tell us that this is the engine that was designed by them for the new ARF. We sure are stupid.

RE: MVVS & Horizon
Its all a politics as far as the name goes,, half the people me included didn't realize that the Evolution is really the old MVVS 58 and therefore I thought it was "NEW" brand and I was way excited, all you have to do to a RC modeler to get them excited is tell them that a product is new or is about to come out on the market, and let the flood gates open,,, P.S. the Evolution/MVVS whatever is a beautiful motor,,,
