Thats just like "who makes a better small block, Ford or Chevy?" You will get biased answers from both sides. They are both great engines. The BME is a side carb that mount on rails and the DA is a rear carb the mounts from the rear. The BME is about $100.00 cheaper. I have experience with both and like both. They will both have great 3D performance on a 16lb plane.

What is JBrannon trying to say is that the DA is stronger [8D]

That's the direct answer to your question Constrictor. But like him I have experience
with both and I like both. On a 16# model you can't go wrong with either one.

Take care,

Stratos.-

Ford vs. Chevy aside... the DA is one heck of a lot easier to mount..

Personal opinion aside..a flat plate on the back of a piston port engine is the EASIEST mount of all, and holds the engine more RIGID than 4 standoffs on the legs of a DA50...
OOPS, I forgot, FPE says RIGID is bad, let the engine shake so the bearings won't be destroyed
And we just hijacked the original intent of the thread...Welcome to the hijackers, DP..

there you go again Ralph. I'm sure glad my engines (taurus) use a bell mount with a 5 bolt mounting pattern and no spindley legs.

If you use thread locker and tighten the 4 standoffs like they should be,, a GOOD,QUALITY, engine will not vibrate overly hard,,

I have both of these engines, they are both very good and are both easy to mount. The BME can use a beam type mount. Neither one shakes more than any other engine.

The DA is a bit stronger.

Ralph -
I totally agree with you.. but Zenoah wasn't one of the choices!! No arguement here... my G26 was the easiest engine I have ever mounted.. well, OK the Moki Glow engines are pretty easy too! You have to agree though that beam mounts on large engines are a PITA..

I'm getting pretty good at this hijacking stuff lately.. !

Hence the "hijacking"...
Some people get upset when the topic strays a little...
