Tartan Question
I have several Tartan Twins acquired over the years. The newest one of them has a crankcase design different from the earlier models. There are some additional gusset type ribs and a port through one of the ribs from the airbox mounting surface into the crankcase. There is no corresponding hole in the airbox that would allow mixture to pass through through the port (although the gasket does).
I am assuming that the port is some form of balancing the mixture flow between the cylinders. But, as I noted, there is no hole in the airbox to allow for this.
I am wondering if this was a design experiment that did not pan out. The engine runs great as it is and I did not even notice the port until I pulled the airbox to re-seal the gasket. (I was getting some fuel residue along the sides of the airbox and decided to apply some sealant to the gasket.)
Does anyone have any information on this? Does anyone have the e-mail address of Bob Ousley or any of the other Tartan Gurus who may know the answer?

Bob Ousley is my grandpa and he asked that I put his number out here. He would gladly take phone calls if you'd like to reach him. 239-826-0754. He is still living in Southern FL.
Let me know if you'd like aditional information such as address via email and I'll get that to you as well.
