Default Mechanical or electronic Brison 3.2 Your opinion please

I am keenly interested in the Brison 3.2 for the Wild Hare Ultimate I just received. There are two ignition options available, mechanical timing advance or fully electronic. I would appreciate input regarding the operation, or your perceptions as to which is better and why.

Thanks in advance...

I have the mechanical advance and it works fine. Mechanical advance will give you a linear advance curve that is not dependent on engine RPM, but you also have a linkage to worry about. Having said that, I've seen plenty of electronic advance engines that run just fine, too.

I have the mechanical advance and it's worked great for years... About the only issue of which I know concerns timing the engine if you ever remove the carb. Since the mechanical linkage for the advance comes off the throttle arm subtle changes in its position can alter the timing. It is a simple matter to adjust the linkage length to compensate and fix the timing. A friend of mine has successfully done this on his 3.2...

My Brison 5.8 and 2.4 have the mechanical advance and work very well. If you have mechanical you can change to electronic advance just by locking the timing ring at 28deg and ad the synchrospark module.

I have never had the electronic, but also have never had any problems with all my mechanicals(5 so far). If I buy another, it will be mechanical. because I can fine tune it.

In my humble opinion, mechanical advance is more reliable, and will give you a smoother transition.

I asked that same question of the company rep at the Toledo show. He said they experience better midrange performance with the mechanical linkage setup. I would buy the mechanical advance.
