RE: zdz 160 champ
Exactly what does switching to another brand engine have to do with the question asked?
Best prop for power -as on any 150-160 engine is still 30x10 Mejzlic.

depends on which yak he is referring to, he may be trying to save weight. With a 32" prop power is right up there with a DA.

RE: zdz 160 champ
I dont think I would run a 30x10 on my 157 and pipes, 7K+ would sound funny on it lol. If he wants a zdz 160 for his yak, thats cool, not everyone wants a DA or 3W, and wants something different. I would like so see other engines tried as well, like the evo 150, etc. Maybe Dick H has some insight on a new super duper zdz 160?

You can't hurt em revving em up and for 3D power is still best - You don't fly em flat out at full tilt tho!
I run my 50 way over 8000 at times never a problem and some guy ran a 160 in a race setup at over 8000.
It is really a matterof choice and your own flying .

True, but I live down here in the thick air and tons of revs are not needed, especially when I can pull any 32x10 prop at 6500+. Dick, can you "leak" any info on a super 160?

One of our giant scale race plane pilots is experimenting with ZDZ engines, and 80 and a 160..The 160 is turning over 9000 rpm in the air (full tilt?) and compares favorably with the DA 150s in the same type planes...Somewhere in the 200 mph range...
The planes are scale copies of Reno racers, 8 foot wingspans, about 35 lbs...
Props are 21x25 carbon fiber...
usrainfo.org has many photos if anyone is interested in some SPEED airplanes...
