The right plane for a Zenoha G38?
I would like a plane to put a Zenoah G38 on that will give me great vertical. I'm looking at a Stinger 120 but any suggestions ( Extra, Laser, Sukhoi, Edge, Cap, Staudacher, ....ect.) would be appreciated. I want to be able to hover with enough power to pull out confidently. Thank you,

I can't give you any suggestions as I haven't got my G-38 mounted up yet either. I will tell you I ran into the same problem and found that a lot of people won't recommend that engine for anything like that due to the weight to horsepower ratio. I ended up on settling on a Texas Hurricane for general sport flying due to a recommendation by another RCU user and am trying to get every thing together for it. It won't have unlimited vertical or 3D but then who cares. As they say to each his own but I don't really see the point of unlimited vertical myself. Hope this helps.

I had a G-38 on a Stinger 120. Once the engine was broken in it became a pretty good plane. Before the break-in, the vertical was only fair. I think it weighed about 15#.

A G-38 will hang on a Four Star 120.
Make the firewall 1/2" ply and move it back
about 1/2 to 3/4".
The guy's in our club are even mounting the servos
in the tail just forward of the horizontal stabilizer.
(Make sure you put a 1/16" plywood plate an inch or
so forward and aft of the servo cut out. One guy had his fuselage crack at the edge of the servo cut out.)
They are fairly aerobatic and very forgiving of P.I.O.
(Pilot Induced Oscillation)
These same guy's have made a twin version.
They tied their two 4*120's together with an 18"
center section. One had a G-38 the other had a US-41
It Flew great.
I haven't built one, I kind of like the taperd wing stuff
But I enjoy flying their's.

I wonder if a mouse-can type exhaust would also help? Thanks CaptinJohn
Hey Cap,
I took some pictures of that muffler set up but I'm
at a loss on how to attach them to this forum.
I'm not computer literate sorry.

RE: The right plane for a Zenoha G38?
I am putting my G38 on 120 Sea Master I bought from a club member.
My question is, the prop hub on my G38 has two locating pins that go into the prop. How do I make sure I drill the holes for the proper phasing to hand start the engine?

Cut 'em off, don't try to drive them out, you will bend the shaft'''If you want to leave the pins in put the prop on where you want it and tighten it up to press marks in the back to drill the holes....
