Default Mystery Gas Engine (Can you ID it?)

I recently purchased a Royal Corsair (the big one 100+ wingspan) and this engine came with it. Just curious if anybody recognizes what it might be. On the mag it has the following information stamped: SEM SWEDEN 101 260 00. On the back of the jug it has 01 121/1C 89. Thanks in advance for your help!

Matt

Thanks. I've been told the exhaust pattern could help determine whether it's a 5.8 or not. Is this true?

The 5.3 and 5.8 have the same pattern, the 4.2 is different....

Wow. Thanks for your help. I've heard great things about your company. You recently repaired a friend of mines 5.8. He's happy as can be. Again...thanks for your help.

Matt,

Interestingly enough, I now have this engine (but not the Corsair). Did you get it to run? I'm wondering about that clipped wire on the left side.

Many thanks,

This is a magneto ignition version, the short wire is where the kill switch goes.

If you want to have some fun and make it lighter, send it to someone to pop off the magneto, add a lighter front hub, and go electronic ignition. It may be a thumper but it should have a lot of power.

Can you recommend anyone who does a good job of this type of modification?

Thanks,
Richard

CH Ignitions does that kind of stuff, along with Taurus engines. I don't like interrupting the flow of ignition systems at CH so I look to RCIGN and Taurus for mods and repairs.
