Quadra 42 Help!
Hi Guys
I picked up an old Byron P51 Mustang fiited with the Quadra 42 and belt reduction gear, can anyone help me with the following:
Is Quadra still around?
What fuel mix is best used?
Is there an electronic ignition system that can be retrofitted?
Will the Q50 fit the same gear reduction system (ie are the engine mounts, physical size etc the same as the Q42)
cheers
Alan

RE: Quadra 42 Help!
Yes
Whatever
Yes
I don't have any idea.
OK, starting over ... you can get Quadras and parts from Bennett Built.
The gas/oil mixture required is pretty much whatever you want. I started out with conventional oil in mine at about 32:1. I now run Amsoil at 100:1 and my Quadra is happy as a clam.
I got a CH ignition on one of mine (actually a US41) and it works fine.
The Quadra 50 is a different frame engine. I have no idea how the reduction drive is configured so don't know how it would mount on a 50.
Good luck!

RE: Quadra 42 Help!
Thanks for the info Bedford
I had heard fuel mix was good from anything from 30 - 50:1 but 100:1....wow that's in DA territory !
I'll start with 40:1 and go from there
again many thanks

RE: Quadra 42 Help!
Quadra Aerrow started up again. http://www.quadraaerrow.com/quadraaerrow/default.asp 40-1 mix works well. Q 50 mount is the same as 42. Can be updated to CDI ign but you would have to change the flywheel too. better option is chainsaw shops have a module called Little Atom that replaces points on any chainsaw for a lot less money and they work well. Hope this helps.
