RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
Any word on the 55cc engine. The 115 looks sweet. They need to up date the web page and give out more info on whats going on. I love my 110 but now I want the 115 after seeing the pics.

Yes it is a comp arf. I had a BME 110 on it prior to the 115. At 23lbs and with the 115 I am sure it will be just as nice, maybe a little better I have no idea when the 55 will come out.

I am going to keep both for a very long time When I buy another 115, then I might sell my 110. You know these engines weigh less than most 80cc engines out there, so my 110 might have to go in a sub 20lb plane[X(] just for the heck of it.
If I were you and buying now, I would definitely go with the 115 hands down. No doubt about it.

What do you plan on doing with your 110?? Looking for something to put on a new 33% Wild Hare 260.....but this 115 has my interest peaked!!! :-)

On top of that you don't have to add the weight of a pipe to an 80 to get more power. Better yet you don't have to turn up the rpm on the 80 by using the pipes and reduce the long term life of the engine. If you're racing it's one thing but in everyday rc adding the weight and complexity of tuned exhausts to gain the required amount of power is self defeating if larger and lighter engines are available that will do the job more effectively.
Kinda like adding racing headers to the family station wagon or mini van.

RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
I went flying today and had a chance to run the 115 in the air. This engine runs as well in the air as it does on the ground. (which any engine should) It is a Real power house! But purrs like a kitten. With my needles finally on the rich side, it will rip the snot out of a 3W 27x10 at almost any throttles setting. I am completely stoked
To anyone who buys ANY engine, make sure the needles are rich enough for your location. It was 70 degrees here today at sea level and the "factory" needles were not rich enough. That bring up another point, there is no such thing as a factory good to go setting. You must adjust your needles to fit your environment, and don't burn up your engine running it WOT on the ground trying to figure where they should be either.
My son took some video........Well I guess you call it that. He is only 10 and never used a video camera before. If I have a chance to edit it I will post it.

RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
UPDATE: Since I have now run this engine a little more (4 tank fulls total), I would like to make a few additional comments.
The idle on this engine is very smooth, even down below 1000. It will reliably idle in the 900's and transition instantly.
Transition from idle to WOT is as smooth as glass, both on the ground and in the air no matter how slow or fast you advance the throttle.
As I stated before it will rip a 3w27x10 at very low throttle settings and just make it scream at WOT. On the first flight I probably did a few too many full throttle passes, but I just could not get over that sound.
My prop of choice will probably be the Mejz 28x10 just because my 110/airframe comb really liked it. Looks cool too, but I have a laminated prop coming and will give it a run.
When you are as over powered as I am with a 22+lb plane it really does not matter what prop you choose.
Now it is time to put some fuel through it and see about durability, I have no doubt it will be just as good.

Wow sounds sweet. How is the avalability for someone to buy one now. Is there a list a mile long and only a small amount of engine's to start with? I Will be looking into getting one soon![sm=tongue_smile.gif]

RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
The reason for not having the engine on the BME site is because Don's Hobby is now the manufacturers dealer and handles all orders and information. It prevents people from trying to order from two different locations when only one will be filling the orders. A time and efficiency thing.

RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
for the few that actually have the 115 in hand, it appears to me from the pictures that the distance from the bottom of the carb to the center of the crankshaft is greater than the distance from the center of the crank to the outside of the sparkplug cap.......can someone please confirm this for me and if so, how much further? I had chosen the 110 for a scale warbird project since it's "cap to cap" measurement is the smallest of all the 100's, but it now looks like the carb will hang out the bottom of the cowling, instead of being enclosed like the 110 would've been..... Thanks.......

I will have to measure when I get home, but it will fit in a comp-arf 2.6 extra.
Since my cowl is on it appears to be about 4" from the center of the crank

RTK, so what u are saying is that the sparkplug caps have a longer radius from the center of the crank than the furthest part of the carb from the crank? Thanks...

It is a little hard to tell, now that I measure again I think it is closer to 5 and a tad inches. Next time I pull the cowl I will measure, but I would say the carb radius is less.

RTK.......OK, thanks......I had chosen the 110 because it would fit entirely inside my cowling, but it appeared the 115 would have the carb hanging out the bottom.......Thanks again for checking, and if u happen to have the cowl off in the near future, I would appreciate the updated actual info......

RE: BME 115 is Shipping!!!
furloughed ual--Sorry for not replying, it is 5 & 1/4 inches from the center of the crank to the lowest point on the carb.
The engine is still running fine to date, although I have not had a chance to do much flying.
