Default any difference in Mejzlik and PT?

I cracked my Mejzlik 27X10 prop and replaced with a PT 27X10, not because of price but Troy Built Models (sells PT) would drill for the engine while DA (sells Mejzlik) would not. The PT is $3 cheaper, no big deal, and Troy charges $7 to drill.

The props look pretty much identical to my untrained eye. Other than the $3 in price, is there a difference?

I know they are a bit lighter. In terms of load, I get lots of mixed reviews. So that I don't know.

From those I took in my hands, Mejzlik have a better finish since PTs have their share of pin holes. They look promising and I may try one for myself.

IMO they perform better than a mejzlik. I ran a 26x10 Mej then replaced it with a 26x10 PT. The PT was almost 3oz lighter! Spool up was instant, a bit quieter, and better pull IMO. They are just great props IMO. I am also running a 32x10 PT, and it performs great too.

The PT pulls better because it has slightly wider blades. I have both the PT 20x10 and the Mejzlik 20x10, and the PT is 1.5 ounces lighter with more blade area (thus 200 less in rpm).

Thanks guys, I won't be able to fly with the PT for a few days but it looks good, smooth as you please.

I second that it pulls better than the "M' brand. I use the 27x10 and the 28x10 on a 3W106TOC.

Safe Flying!

Help me understand the pin hole comment.
Are these pin holes on the blade or hub?

OK in fact, only one had a bad finish. The pin holes were in the hub and blade "root" area. Not a good place IMO. Sorry I don't have any pics.

I would still take a chance and try one for myself as they are much lighter than mejzliks, almost closer to wood weight than CF weight.

Thanks for the response.
Ihave spare that I have been sitting on for about 3 months.

That's why I said "smooth". I checked this prop out thoroughly and it is smooth and solid as any I've seen. Guess you just got a bad one.

The PT prop blade resembles the 3W wood in the 22x8 size an weighs the same as the wood prop. The Mejzlik has a narrower blade turns a little faster and weights 4 oz. more. Performance wise, I like the PT better on this particular plane.
