The MVVS has a rear carb the Brillelli a side carb. Decision factors like these are may be more important than the brand name.
Personally I like the MVVS45 but do not own the Brillelli.

And may, or may not, fit in your model. (Which probably was Hans' point.)

I don't have any experience with the 45 but I can tell you the Brillelli 46 is a nice, light, powerful, engine with awesome customer support. I have own several Brillelli engines and Scott is always there for you if you need him.

Both are good engines so really its going to come down to the configuration as mentioned above and cost / weight. That is something you probably have to decide for yourself.

I would go with the Brillelli. I was the second owner of a mvvs 45 and had a horrible time with service. Noone in the U.S. will service them, I had to send it To canada for service 2 1/2 months later I got it back. Nothing was covered under warranty evidently because I wasn't the origonal buyer. I don't know about Brillelli but other companies like zdz, Da and many others would have taken care of an engine that is less than 2 years old. If you have to get the mvvs buy it from horizon with the Evolution name on it. They will at least service it then.

Service is getting to be a bigger and bigger factor in this hobby. There may be better engines out there, but the difference may be significant, only to the Chip Hydes of the world. I have learned of Brillelli through the friendship he has with Adam at BCMA. I own a BCMA. Since BCMA does not offer a 45CC engine, and MVVS customer service seems to be very impersonal, the answer is easy,...Brillelli wins. Don't make the mistake off assuming you will be one of the lucky one's, and not need customer service, especially if you are new to gassers.

Hrmm... that number sounds a bit high... most DA 50s get 7200-7300 broken in on that prop without a pipe. Find it hard to believe that 45 is doing as well as a DA 50.

Not knockin the motor whatsoever.. just that number doesnt match.

the numbers are rite i don't strecch the numbers!!!,the tach may be off,but that is what i got the last time i check, your right about the da 50,i got 7300 on a mezjlik 22-8, and 7250 on the mvvs 45 on the same prop, same slimline pitts ,same fuel, same day.the da has a greater advantage on the bigger props,6200 on the mvvs 45 with a 23-8 mezjlik,da 6500 same prop.
if i had a plane that was set up for a pipe i would like to see what the 45 would do.
but all bull sh#$t set aside 7250 is exactly what i got!!!
ENJOY!

There are many posts here on RCU stating very similar performance from the MVVS 45 and the DA 50. (Note, the MVVS is 43cc)
The "correct" exhaust system seems to be very important.

There is a nice MVVS help forum here in RCU and Pe Reivers is always ready to help you. I would go for MVVS

I have heard that DA50 has a poor midrange? Is that true or just nasty rumors? DA50 is very light but is it reliable?

I didn't mean to imply you stretched the numbers... they just sounded high to me.

If it gets that kind of numbers it really doesnt compare with the Brillelli 46... of course it is a lot more expensive.

thats is what is hard about mvvs,to place a 43cc in that same class with the rest of the 40-45cc engines as far as performance the mvvs will beat them bad.i wish someone would put a bug in the ear of mvvs and make a true 50cc it would give the rest of the 50cc engines something to shoot for.
ENJOY!
