Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
Hi
Im looking into buying one of these great beast`s.
Any of you guys have one ?
Do you like it?
Any quirks ?
How often do you have to lubricate the exposed rocker arm assembly?
What do you lube it with ?

Sonnich,
I have two of the RCS215 radials. I just got them so I can't offer too much. The instructions say to lubricate the valve train before each flying session. I bench ran one yesterday. Started real easy and OH, the sound!

Thanks Bob. That does not sound like much maintenance at all
If you havn`t seen it yet, here is the video that has set my mind up on getting this exact combination
Yak-11 Reno race Czeck Mate 86 and Moki/RCS 250S
65mb movie well worth the wait

RE: Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
this summer we had a sea feury with the 250cc engine at our big bird event. The sound of that thing doing a Hi speed straiffing pass to a hard pull is AUSOM! Only thing missing was the .50's hamering away!

Thanks subarubrat for the video. I found it last week.
I think I have vacumed all the videos from RCU, putfile, googlevideo, youtube that exist
The company that makes the Yak-11 also makes the Critical mass. But it is too large to fit my car, so ill have to settle on the yak. Not that im complaining, because it also looks great.

Killer idea for a project Sonnich,. You got a link for the company that sells this yak11? I have seen up close and personal the sea fury and focke wolf duke it out. AWESOME SOUND!!!! Really incredible. Moki/Mackay knows his stuff. Not sure the longevity of this engine though. Critical Mass looks great too. I'm itchin for something different.
Good luck Sonnich! [8D]

Its http://www.skygate-collection.de/
Stephan Völker which you probably know from the Jet world masters is part owner of this company.
So the stuff has to be great
They also make the HUGE Bae Hawk.
The critical mass is not listed on the site.
Heres the critical mass info i got:
The critical mass has a wingspan of 2,60 m and length of 2,70m, the weight will be round about 17 kg.
I am selling the kit by my own, that is the reason why it is not on the homepage. The price is included
the landing gear, with all formers and the wing plug-in-amount installed, 2700,- Euro.

AhhhhH!!!! The skygate!! These guys are masters and the hawk is to die for! The price for us over here might be about $3455 if your price was without VAT. I knew I saw the critical mass somewhere.

well...over here, it costs a little more than an ARF Bandit Go fly price.....that is Yak or critical mass + moki engine!
The price is with VAT, so i guess you can cut off 19% of that when ordereing from the US.

That's a great video of the Yak, any vids of 'The Mass'?
I'm gonna have me one of these radials and the Critical mass is the nicest airframe I've seen for one so far.
Is that the 250 in there?
Didg.

RE: Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
Had mine (215) for two years, about 50 flights, and perfect performance. Flys my 50+ lbs BUSA Stearman with authority at 1/2 throttle. Scale takeoffs are at about 1/4 throttle. It is truly a work of art and the sound can't be beat.
I lube the rocker/pushrod interface with a molybdenum disulfide grease and put a drop of high viscosity oil on the rocker pivot point before each day. However, you don't want too much as this will attract a lot of dust.
Now all we need is for Moki to bring out multicylinder inlines for those warbird and scale planes!
Dare we even wish for a V-4 or V-6?

RE: Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
Don't know if you are still in the hunt for one of the Radials BUT...I have the 250 on my Airworld FW190 and it sucks!!! The engine lasted 5 flights and threw a rod ( flew it at 1/2 throttle and had numerous bench runs for break in) and I had to send it back to Germany and now it sits for who knows how long. It has been there since Dec. 5, 2006 and I have not heard a word. I hear through the "grapevine" there are 2 more of the 250's over there with similar problems.
I would go with the 215 because it is proven out and the 250 is not. Lots more power BUT the 215 is loaded anyway. I am at the end of my rope with this and am VERY tired of waiting on people to get things done. A good company would have sent a loaner engine or just gave me a new 215 to keep me happy.
Good luck!

RE: Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
The hobby shop I bought the engine through has done a good job BUT their hands are tied until Hans Deiter with Airworld Germany gets info to them. I am trying to take things into my own hands here because I have a $10K airplane and have not been able to fly it for almost two months now...I can handle it IF they would stay in touch and give me a timeframe.
This is not a good way to support a product in my opinion. There ought to be a US outlet for warranty and replacement. The way I run my business is...the customer is NEVER without the ability to use what they have bought.

RE: Moki/RCS 215 and 250 Radial.
Im sorry to say, but I have dealt with airworld too, and they have WORST customer service I have ever experianced.
I tried to order a landing gear set for my ME-262, and it took about a year to get. And they sent me these cheesy eurokit retracts, instead of the robart set that I even sent pictures of what I wanted. I should have suspected something was wrong when the price of the gear was on the cheap side.....but still paid 50% more for the eurokits above the street price.
I asked if they had the moki 250 in stock, and it took over a month just to get a reply.
That realy sucks!
Infortunatly, they aparently have the rights of these cool engines in europe.

We sell and service the line of "Moki" radials under the brand name "RCS" here in the States. We have alot of the new RCS 250 radials out there and they are great performers. If you have a problem and you cannot get it resolved, please get it in for us to fix for you. We have ALOT of experience with these engines. We are located in the state of Maryland.
