My flying buddy who owns 3W & Kroma big engines .. goes on and on about how great my "little" engine is. I let him tune it because he has far more experience than me, and we are both impressed with my Venom 45.

I don't think you'll be all that enthralled with a XOAR prop... They are OK, but the Zinger you are currently using is actually better. If you want more vertical drop your pitch to 7 and keep the 22" diameter. OR, try a 23x7 prop...

To each his own, Andy. It all comes down to personal preference and application. I use a Menz Ultra Three Blade 20x12 and it'll pull stumps at a mere 6300 RPM.

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Hey guys, I have been looking for a gas engine for my Ultra-RC Katana and was pointed in this direction. Actually, I had never even heard of Venom engines as this will be my first gasser and I just have not followed gas engine forums.
Anyway, I just ried to go to the website's for Venom engines and I could not pull it up. Can anyone tell me what the all up weight is for the 30cc and the 45cc engines? I am looking for engine, muffler, and ignition. I can get a great deal on a used DZ140, but as I said I would like to try gas but I need to keep the weight down. I have been looking at a DL-50 as they are both inexpensive and fairly light at 3.46lbs complete, but it is really a LOT more power then I need. I will start to look through the thread to see what I can find and thanks for the help.
Oh, someone said that the 30cc is no longer available, is this correct?

These are pictures of the upper rod bearing from my V45. It was on its' 5th gallon of gas, mixed at 32:1 since day one, when I noticed it didn't sound quite right. Took it apart and that's what I found. Engine was repaired under warranty but for various reasons I've lost confidence in Copperhead/Venom/OMP and my V45. I will most likely be listing my V45 on the RCU Marketplace.

Sorry to see and hear that you have had a failure. I have to say up front that my new engine is just that, new, and is running great. I know that anything built by a man can and will wear out. Let's just hope that you got one of those 1 in a million bad bearings that happen every so often. Thanks for not getting out the shotgun and blasting the company, I really hate it when I see that happen.
Mark F. Any comments on this failure?

Again, this is PURELY a "best guess" based on how needle bearings react under specific conditions. This does not imply or suggest these conditions exist with this particular engine... In any event, I would "highly recommend" this engine be replaced with a new one, because the next bearing is destined to break (again) in the current engine & current conditions. However, replacement is up to Tim, Copperhead, OMP or whomever is the decision maker for warranties. You asked what I thought...

Mark, he says in his post that the engine was repaired under warranty. It was my understanding that you were the warranty repair center. Has something changed with this? Perhaps what he meant to say is that he hopes that it will be repaired under warranty.

Nothing bad happened. RCAdmin set the software to allow more posts per page, so page counts dropped. I think a lot of people asked for this. If you bookmarked to certain pages of long threads like I do, your last place bookmarked will have changed.

Where re you Tim?
Thought you would be right there responding to this line of questioning. NO longer working with Mark? Now thats a great loss!
Mark more than anyone would have contributed to a lot of sales for you with his great Tech Notes and understanding mature. I tell you for a fact that it was Mark's write up of the V45 that got me in to buy one!
