Titanium bolts
If titanium is 40% lighter than steel and my engine bolts weigh 3 oz total, I could shave off about 2 oz of weight. Engine is a bme 115. Whats the good/ bad side of using titanium? One bolt manufacturer sells grade 5 bolts, should be strong enough?

RE: Titanium bolts
Hey I just got in a big fat check. Gona get the CF wing tube and spinner. The bolts will be cheaper than the psp titanium axles and save more weight. Might evan get it as light as your yak. So with your experience will the bolts stand up?

Yes. Not everyone is as rich as you and RTK ya know[8D] Almost everything is cheaper than PSP titanium axles. Ridiculous!!
That rudder fix was pretty serious. Ended up a smackdown while flying high alpha knife edge and trying to avoid a 2' high fence post. Whoops[:@]

RE: Titanium bolts
Titanium bolts are the fasteners used to attach the flight control surfaces of the F/A 18 hornets that I maintain. They might be up to the task on a model plane
I really don't think they are worth the price for the anount of weight loss over a steel screw, but hey, it's your money..........

There's a story goin' round that alledges that one of the first new W/H 50cc Sukhois may be coming my way shortly. I should be home long enough to build it and get some flights in before it goes back north with me.
Lesson learned. Don't do low K/E passes lower than the 24" fence posts.
