Do you have an address of the place in Taiwan where you have purchased the DL50? I would be very interested in contacting them.
thanks,
Steve

RE: DL-50 engine
Steve, I would rather not be the person to advertize for somebody. If I do that, I become bias and unbelievable. Furthermore, it's possible that these sellers are not supposed to be selling in the USA. (I"m not sure it thats true or not) but I'd hate to bite the hand the feeds me.
My Point was this. The DL-50 came to market costing much less than the DA. When it was first released there was no waranty. The marketing strategy seemed to be, "it's so much cheaper that you are self insuring the waranty by saving the money up front" (My words) I'm trying to say that there is no reason we as consumers can't apply the same logic as new clones. knockoffs, or whatever we call them, come to market.
You see so many guys on these threads trying to protect the distributor or retailer of a particular product, ( I believe in a lot of cases it's friends, family ect.... of the retalier) doing this is counterproductive to our hobby. When people bash a new product producer and make it hard for them to launch a new product, you are helping the competition prices stay firm and inflated. We cut our own throats when we do that. I refuse to cut my throat or anybody elses for that matter. There is so much fat in the price of these engines it's not even funny. I'll guess the cost to produce these 50cc engines is less than 50 dollars. You can buy and entire weedwacker for 69 dollars, it's much more than just an engine. These little gas 50cc eigines are not rocket science.
When the DL-50 first came out, everybody starting bragging about it, that bragging caused unbelievabe sales, supply of the engine went down, demand went up, and so did the price of the engine. All the positive feedback, bragging or what have you, on this thread and others actually caused the price of the engine to increase. Who wanted that? Not the consumer.
Imagine if IBM was still the only manufacturer of the computer. My first laptop cost 3000 dollars and it wasn't much quicker than a 3 grader in math class. It was only competition that caused us to have better and less expensive products.

RE: DL-50 engine
That's the newest version. Beefed up mounting ears, new standoffs, and the newest version of the ignition.
You are all set. Enjoy... I'm the proud owner of 4 DL50's. Sold my DA50's.
Lots of photos in this thread. I'm getting ready to mount DL #4 on a RC Dawghouse Yak. I'll post some pics.
The mounting dimensions are the same as a DA 50... So, if you can get your hands on a DA 50 template... mounting will be easy..

RE: DL-50 engine
Engine mounts (and all other bolts on the DL50) use 5mm Metric (0.8 pitch)
6-32 will fit, but will be a little loose in the thread, so the correct metric 5mm bolt should be used.

RE: DL-50 engine
Dont be sorry, I was wrong. Im not so familiar with imperial #'s Ive spent my life with mostly metric measurements here in Aust (used to imperial, but before my time)
youre right 10-32 is the closest to 5mm Think I still had 8-32 on my brain from some HD Dubro Horns I was fitting the other night....

RE: DL-50 engine
Hello
I received my DL50 today and it looks good.
I have a question though, what is this cable that comes with it. It has a normal servo 'male' on one end and the red/black wires are bare on the other end?
Also, I figured this engine would be much bigger ...But apparantly this is how 50cc looks!
...Oh yeah, another Q? for you DL boys, where/how do I fasten this control horn thingie that also came with the engine

RE: DL-50 engine
hey Nellie ... nice pix. yOU can buy the metric bolts to fit the mounts for your new DL-50 at the hardware store, in the middle of Avon Park. I bought mine there also. I just got my new GP Ultimate 160 and going to put my DL-50 in. When we get things done, lets meet at the field and rip the sky apart!!!! Last time we met at the field, you told me you were going to buy the new engine. You are gona love it. Mine ran great till i dunked her in the lake. Have not had it running since, but ignition works and everything seems okay.
c u at the field Nellie

RE: DL-50 engine
BIG pictures, for sure!!!!!!!!
A comment about Vess props..... on the DL 50, you will need a MINIMUM 40mm prop bolt, 45mm is better, if you are using a spinner, for certain. The Vess is quite a bit thicker, and the stock prop bolts will not give you enough threads in the hub.
