pe -
it was a sullivan skywriter with SuperDri smoke fluid.
the muffler is a bisson pitts muffler for MVVS (or EVO), it didnt had a nipple so i drilled a hole and tapped it.
the smoke was great, but with a 12 oz. tank (didnt had room for a bigger one) it didnt last long... so i turnd it on through these beautiful manuvers and (the EVO's specialty) verticals.

great flying bip, now i have to find a new engine for it

Why a new engine? Wait till you get your ignition back.
Or I, Ralph Cunningham or RTK can make a conversion for it. The MVVS 26 after all is the most powerful kid on the block in it's class.
The new black plastic ICU ignitions is no option. You would also need to change the cylinder head to the 10x1 mm thread of the smaller spark plugs.

A new engine because the one i have is mounted on my zero.
If only this engine wasnt that expensive, i would convert all my 120 planes to gas using the EVO or MVVS engines.
but today, when you can buy a 26cc gas engine for less than 200$ it seems unreasonable to spend over 500$ for one...

over USD500???
The 26cc MVVS is priced at 267.98 euros,
conversion:
267.98 Euro (EUR) = 396.198 US Dollar by today's exchange rate.

The 25.4 cc chinese engines are quite low in power compared to the MVVS, so the price per horsepower is not that much different.
If you consider again the space requirements for the needed horsepower, the remaining price difference is more than justified.

Your calculations are right, but there are somthings missing.
you need to add the shipping price to israel and the tax and vat (not mentioning the LHS part).
so, if a 400$ engine is shipped to israel, you need to add 15% vat , the shipping price as approximatly 30$, you need a muffler, tax, LHS cut... ect...
eventually, it will cost more then 500$, whch is a very high price for a 26cc engine.

i have a XYZ 26cc engine... which cost me 202$ (inc. everything).
sure, it isnt powerful as the MVVS engine, but for less than half the price, its something to think about.

i just have to say that i love my EVO, its a great engine, starts on a single flip of the prop (actually amazing me every time) and all around excellent engine, i just wish it wasnt that pricey.

thanks for all your help.
