DL flying 83" Megawot on a Zimmerman mini-pipe, alloy stack into fuz and 22*8 JXF woodie on Sunday.
Worlds biggest shock flyer now
Massively overpowered and much more fun to fly than with the McCulloch 32cc trimmer that was in it before. Takeoff run about 4ft. Prop hanging on 1/4 throttle and can go up and down in the air without blipping or pumping the throttle. Outside bunts, inverted etc don't seem to alter the engine note. Prolonged tickover just makes more smoke (out of the mini-pipe) when opened up and no stumbling.
Throttle curve needs about 20% at 50% to get linearity on this (Zenoah) pipe.
Glider towing this year - can't see anything at our club providing a power or drag challenge [8D]

RE: Side by side Photo's..DA & DL....
Got today my DL-50 engine...
I looked around it and noticed that there is new carb model on my engine. It's TW 831 918. Standoffs were shorter than in any picture I've seen so far, they are only 32mm long. Date marking on ignition box green sticker is "2008/09". Also the prop hub nut is different colour than any of these engines pictured here.
There was signed certificate of 10min test run on 22x10 Xoar prop with peak RPM of 6300.
attached couple pics of my engine... could't get clear shot of carb number...
PS. piston ring groove seems right.

RE: Side by side Photo's..DA & DL....
I bought it from Lindinger Austria, but those standoffs are not an issue... I just build the Pitts S12 the way that my engine fits on it
And BTW. If I've understood correctly these short standoffs are needed on CH Model Pitts S12 1750mm...

Quique Somenzini Yak 54 86" And what there is behind that DA-50 ??? 35mm standoffs Am I right or what?

There was no CH Model Pitts S12 in your link, just a login screen.
QQ Yak should be 68mm also. I thought all DL's had the same stand offs?? The stand offs need to be 68mm so the choke plate on the carburetor clears the firewall. If you use 35mm on your S12 then your carburetor will be inside your engine box. How can you get to the needles? In general, the long stand offs are needed for the rear carburetor to clear the firewall.

hmm... I thought you don't have to tweak the needles on gasser more than once... I'm definitely not going to
oh... I forgot that finnish forum rules that you have to be signed in to see pictures.... The QQ Yak is my buddys plane so I post the picture here...
and on that pitts picture that I found somewhere the 68mm stanoffs have been cut down to about half....

Totally off topic []
But maybe this might help with your snow? Faster than a regular shovel [link=http://www.irconnect.com/noc/press/pages/news_releases.html?d=154600]Laser snow shovel[/link]

without me reading the entire thread can someone tell me the inside diameter of the DA 50's carb where it mounts to the Manifold,, and or the Port on the Manifold ???
I would like to use the DA 50's Reed System on my Super Tartan twin,, looks like all I need to do is make a plate, and I have a small Mill..
thanks !!

RE: Side by side Photo's..DA & DL....
Looking pictures from page 2 looks like the DL reedbox will not seal good enough on DA crankcase. But DL reeds might fit in DA's reedbox. I'm not sure about that...

DL-USA is committed to having parts, per Bob Kramer.
I think it is pretty important for us here in the US to recognize that we do not know the source of the engine TREADSTONE is using, and if any of you have been following threads on these motors, the one thing for *certain* is that there seems to be documented differences in performance, appearance, reliability, and durability based on which "distributor" the engine was acquired from.
I don't say that to minimize the great pictorial information being provided, but rather to just remind US customers that what we are getting and using may be different, better or worse, and that there is no real way to compare. Apples and other apples.... we don't know if they fell from the same tree....

How about interchangability? We are going to need a source of parts when the weaker company fails.

Why would it matter where he got his DL 50's from. If you get a DA from DA USA or DA Australia, for some reason I bet they are identical. Why should people have to worry or be concerned where they get their motor from?

RE: Side by side Photo's..DA & DL....
Because if something happens you do not send it back to the factory like you do with Da.
So you have to send it back to the distributor and hope that he or she stands behind the warranty they sold with it, the factory doesn't provide that warranty its the distributor that does(I thionk thats the way it works I have 3 of the DL 50's

That said, my question was more directed at why should you have to worry about quality differences between distributors. I would hope that all the motors were the same from one distributor to another, because they are all coming from the same manufacture. Apparently from the pictures though, the motors can vary drastically in quality from box to box, and that would definetly make warranty and ease of obtaining service a priority...

RE: Side by side Photo's..DA & DL....
Just to let everyone know:- My DL is still running great and has tugged various 2.0, 3.6, 4.0 and 4.6M scale gliders with ease. Probably had 6 or 8 gallons though it now (a LOT of towing).
